WIP - Churchill VII
Wheels
Hatch and co-axial gun
Rear
Front
Good looking barrel
Way better than the plastic one
This part of the turret was one cast piece. The seam line has to go.
Stippled some Mr Surfacer 1200 to get a rough surface
Friul shoes started
Glueing parts from the inside can look so much better
Unless the TETC seeps through, and you have your fingerprint saved for the ages.
Added some mesh on the air intakes. I'm not sure it will be visible when finished.
Fixed the booboo
Dry fit
Simulated some damage from bullets and a bigger shot
Ready for paint
Road wheeeeeeeels!
Glued the other halves on a piece of sprue for easier painting. Why on the axle? The end will be visible
Various parts.
White primer on.
Needs an extra layer here and there.
Ditto
First steps of preshading
Roof needs to be a bit lighter
Highlights & white added.
Base colour
Green wheels!
The green is a bit too opaque?
Friul slipper
Both slippers done
Tracks burnished
A wash using Ammo tracks wash with added rust pigment
Added some extra rust pigment in the middle. The lower ‘rails’ has been treated with Gun metal pigment
Top left links have been treated with gun metal pigment.
Measles. The phtalo blue is too blue and way too much. Next time I’ll use a dark green
Measles mostly gone & dry fit
Some paint
Some gun metal to get a steel wire look
Dust!
To my surprise, all pieces were glued and decalled. Only some weathering left?
Enough dust?

Had a chat this morning with Lode. I told him I was thinking of a bf109 as my next build. She has gained some weight! 😄

All pieces are cut, sanded and prepped for primer. Some pieces already have primer on.

This is going pretty ahead, Martin. Nice job with the mr surfacer and the damage on the turret. I liked it much

Quite a lot of preshading. That is going to come nicely out in the painting

I recently bought this model too. I'll replace the turret with a Blackdog hessian camo one. I wonder if it will all keep up to the AFV model I made earlier. You've already advanced far! Good idea to look for metal links in stead of the vinyl you got.

Completely missed this one, but nice work so far. The cast texture you applied to the turret looks very good. 👍

Tim, Can we trade skills then for a couple of weeks? I want to paint some cars and you rock at that 👍
Thank you James. Currently on hold due to my Covid quarantine.

After my release from my COVID prison, I need to finish some stuff on my bench first 😉

Go go go, Martin. We've seen a lot of starts in your COVID prisontime. Time to finish them, including this Churchill tank

I DO know what I'm doing! Sort of, maybe 😄
I use this magazine, which has all kinds of techniques, which I mix and match scalemates.com/press/issue.php?id=229
It is so much easier to learn when each step is detailed with pictures.
I must confess I'm pretty pleased with the result and even more with your compliments 🙂

During my covid depression I moved this to the end of the desk. Now the lime/purple monster is done, I found the Churchill again. To my surprise all parts were glued and all decals done. So I took a jar of pigment and a brush. Now I'm declaring this one done as well!
Beter pictures to follow in sunlight

Looking forward to the final reveal Martin. The Churchill (along with the Cromwell, Centaur and Comet) is on my "todo" list for later this year as well, to finish off my British WW2 armour collection.
