Ejection seats done
Cutting out the wheel wells caused the bottom half of the fuselage to warp, to get the bomb bay in place without gaps had to clamp the whole fuselage in place to remove the warping in the bottom half
Forgot to install these two ecjection seat rails
Cockpit ready for final assembly
Dry fitting the cockpit, the front starboard wall will need some trimming
Port wall had some minor gaps to fill
Starboard walls fit aren't the best...rather biggish gaps
Test fitting the completed cockpit, which actually sits really nice in place
Cut out too much of the original glareshield to fit the resin shield, otherwise the shield will sit too much forward
Gaps filled in
Navigator blast shield installed
The jet pipe needs some clean up
The jet pipes need shortening due to the resin wheel wells taking more space than the originals
Everything is sanded as the plastic is really rough
Scribing some panel lines
Fitting issues...can't press the top part in to align with the bottom half as the epoxy used to attach the resin cockpit makes it impossible...
...so therefore forced the bottom half outwards to align with the top part.
More alignment issues
The nose sections forced into position, glued and lots of tape to hold it in place. Let it sit for a day to set. The fuselage is glued in sections otherwise you can't get everything to align.
Next the tail section is glued.
The air intakes didn't align with the fuselage so some pieces of styrene had to be inserted here.
The whole fuselage eventually glued in place.

Made a mistake here...those silver parts should be same color as the rest of the gear.

Used the Eduard PE instead of the Airwaves one for the bottom, now looks more like the real thing.

Careful drilling...
Just a dry fitting, the pitot tube will be assembled last as it's a prime candidate to be broken off or be bend.
Used a spare HUD I found in a box as the kit's HUD is rubbish

The angle of the refuelling probe was too much, it should be about 10°.

The Kits-World decals are excellent
The yellow stripe should be higher up on the fuselage

Then this happened...somehow the stripe lengths are different, didn't spot it when applying them.

Stripe fixed.
All decals applied.
First time I'm using an oil wash.
Wash applied.
Tanks and missiles attached.
The slipper tanks sit too far outward on the wings if using the guide pins, it should not go over the wing hinges. **Correction - these are actually the correct positions, fixed later on.

The position of the fuel tanks were actually correct on closer inspection...they do go slightly over the wing hinges.
Fuel tanks reattached in the correct positions now.
The canopy was sanded as it had some scratches and wasn’t clear.
Time to try my new rotary tool to polish the canopy.
Undercarriage in place.
I lost the clear part for the navigation light on top of the fuselage so made a new one with Glue ‘n’ Glaze.
Ejection seats installed.
Just a test fit...the pitot tube will be installed and painted last to avoid knocking or bending it.
Awaiting a final semi gloss coat.
Building the ladders and FOD guards.
With closed canopy and before adding the ladders and FOD guards to the engine intakes.

CelliersHi Megan. I used a resin cockpit set from Neomega as the Airfix one had basically no detail on it and I'm planning to have an open cockpit. Just had to take my time carefully painting the panels and dials. Had some fitment issues with some of the side walls but once inside the fuselage it won't be noticeable 🙂

@Daniel, this kit has a lot of work, nothing fits properly so you have to love filling and sanding. And then I somehow got into riveting the whole thing which added so much more work...I hope to have everything assembled in the next week ready for painting.

@Francky, I would definitely get the Neomega cockpit and wheel well resin set as the kit's are very basic, the Airwaves speed brakes PE set as well as the Master pitot tube and refueling probe. I only used a few parts of the Eduard PE sets.
