Fuel inspection added from stretched clear sprue

Album image #13
RLM66 base

Album image #14
blend coat and highlights added

Album image #15
A little bit too bright right now, but clear coats and the rather small fuselage opening will tone it down

Album image #16
Dry fit on the IP, acetate backed with white colour

Album image #17
Details painted, some touch ups needed on the fuel line

Album image #18

Album image #26
Album image #27
Brake line from Hasegawa, looks toyish to me -> will be replaced

Album image #28
Some panel lines and panels filled on the wings

Album image #29
There's a piec of plastic for the bulged wheel well ceiling. Fit is horrible, but luckily invisible on the finished plane

Album image #30

Everything in place, dust pigments on the floor and seat

Album image #33
IP finished

Album image #34
Fuselage buttoned up and cockpit put into place

Album image #55
Bad reaction from the Alclad filler and the black base -> sanding

Album image #56
Not much effort on the wheel wells

Album image #57
The ejector pins won't be seen, tried to keep the RLM02 translucent

Album image #58
White marble coat on the spinner and all the other withe parts, white and yellow for the cowl

Album image #59
Maybe a tad to much colour on the fuselage band, the colour variation isn't wuite visible in the picture

Album image #60
Maybe a little bit better on the underside

Album image #61
Underside camo: RLM76, don't like the Gunze shade, it's almost RLM65ish, 10% light grey didi the trick

Album image #62
Marble coat

Album image #63
Blend coat on

Album image #64
Lots of contrast here!

Album image #65
RLM79 marble coat applied

Album image #66
I kept it quite heavy on the sides because the RLM80 mottle will add a lot of contrast

Album image #67
Not sure on the upper wing mottle - Eagle cal suggest early JG27 style blotches. The original looks more like a mottle.

Album image #68
RLM79 is on!

Album image #69
I kept it quite thin to have more contrast when the green is added

Album image #70
Same for the wings, just the wing root collected too much paint but there will be the exhaust stain, so I don't mind

Album image #71
First test cut with Tamiya masking sheet - looks promising!

Album image #72
Unfortunately the crosses came out 2mm too big, despite the correct size in the cutting program

Album image #73
New masks cut from Oramakask 810

Album image #74

Album image #75
masked up for the white

Album image #94
dots placed

Album image #95
working the colours into the surface, blended right afterwards with thinner

Album image #96
filter on the left wing vs. previous state on the right wing

Album image #97
underside washing in place; kept it quite subtle

Album image #98
the upper surfaces as well - I went with a dark brown with some raw umber in it

Album image #99
and that's how it looks from a normal vieweing distance

Album image #100
flat black on the Master MG17 barrels, prepraing for the metal look

Album image #101
quick spyshot from the bench with the flat coat on

Very nice progress. The streched clear sprue (great idea), the chain, the acetate (the white behind is not painted is it?) Lot's of detail 👍 Looking great.

The white is painted but only to pop out the printed detail (in black)

But It is such an incredible small detail? They look like decal or stencil...

It's a little bit hard to describe. There's a good photo in this review of the Aires Ki-84 cockpit:

Thanks guys - it'll take some days to get the upperside camo done. A little hand injury is making the mottling a real pain.

Is that a pre-cut masking sheet?
10 April 2019, 09:53
Joachim F.
Thanks mates!
@Holger: No - I did cut the masks with a Silhouette Portrait plotter - at least I tried!

I just got the Cameo plotter, thinking about cutting masks on it as well. Looks like there will be challenges 😄

I had a discussion on largescaleplanes on this and one problem is the Tamiya sheet. It's just too tacky - I ordered Oramask 810 and will do another mask set with this material. It's supposed to be close to the vinyl of the montex masks

Was going to say I'm not normally into too much AM but you have really done a splendid job. I just went through the whole lot of photos and pondered over each one! I felt like I've just watched a 2 hour scale model video - learnt so much! Excellent!🫡
