The holes for the wheels do not line up for the only kit in 1/32. My guess is that these are accurate to the real thing and not designed to fit the kit. So which do you prefer? I would have liked to see if fit the kit. Used drill bits to match a fitting hole to the original wheel parts and then drilled out the resin. The cut line to remove the casting block for the front wheels are correct, but not the mains.

Are they bulged "weight on wheels"?
Thanks,

@Paul Moore: Just finished this kit recently and the wheel's are not bulged. That said, they still look okay as I find US Navy tires don't bulge much at all because the tire pressure is so high.

That's a great point about the tire pressure! Thanks for the feedback.

If you look at photos of Intruders (and F-14s) in museums, they don't seem to inflate the tires to as much pressure as they were operationally. Probably wise for safety reasons?
Recommend these parts and just sand the side down at the bottom, where it connects to the casting block to give that flattened look.
My finished model is on FB in the "Navy planes in scale" group.

Jon,
Thanks for that information. I flew the Intruder from 89-93 but don't remember tire inflation other than a pre-flight "kick the tires". Didn't really have a "modelers eye" for that kind of detail. But your right, tire inflation was higher when we operated off the boat.

Thanks,

I also posted on the Intruder FB group as well for the toughest critics. Mine is VA-75 in DS markings. Kick the tires is kind of an expression that didn't fit I bet as tires would have been rock hard.

Tip if you are building one, get the MER from ResKit and do not use the kit one or the Eduards. Eduarrds is way too short and the kit one is terrible.
Wish someone would make the correct tail comb set.

Ahhh …. Too late about the MER's. 😏. Bummer. Were you able to use them or did you have to buy the ResKit. Any other gouge about the build Jon? Thanks. I'll have to check out those links!

I bought the MERs from ResKit. That was the one thing I was glad about that I waited so long before finishing the kit. Toyed with the idea of fixing the tail comb myself, but was going to be too much work for only a little gain.
Other issues with the kit is where the aft side of where the nose gear joins the fuselage is way to deep into the gear bay. The wing fences are not in the correct spot and the fuselage has way too many rivets. I filled the rivets where needed. If they ghost a bit, that's okay too.

Now that I re-read the last line in the review should really be "The cut line to remove the casting block for the front wheels hubs is correct, but not the mains." So referring to the hubs not the wheels themselves.
