turret and suspension done, main hull almost ready, added the casting structure with an old brush by dissolving the plastic surface

Hi!

If you're looking for some pictures of this tank:
chars-francais.net/n..;id=65&Itemid=36

And just be carefull with the tracks, which are very stiff and prone to brake the idler wheel axe. The best thing to do is to change them by the Hobby Boss ones, which are available alone.

I'm looking forward for the rest of you build (and paint,as some r35 have very beautifull camo scheme with purple and sky blue paint...)
7 January 2014, 18:09
Fabian D.
Thanks for the info Lionel, just checked my tracks, but they´re about 2cm too long, and don´t fit the spocket weels either... I´ll have a look if i can get the hobbyboss somewhere...

The great vaiety of cammo patterns was one of the reasons why i picked it, but i haven´t decided how to display (and paint) the little one, but now I´ve got tons of inspriation😉

George Bacon
Looking good so far 👍. I have this model in my stash and look forward to watching your build to see what you think. The Hobby Boss tracks sound like a good addition.
7 January 2014, 20:28
Hunter Cummins
👍

Fabian D.
thanks guys, I´m currently thinking of adding an interior... but that´s depends on the scene I´m not 100% shure about.

@Lionel: I just found tracks for the H39, wich are nor exactly the same, but surprisingly cheap... and way better than the not fitting rubber pice they should replace... so I´m going to order them the next days...
7 January 2014, 21:39
Lionel Marco
The tracks are different, so you may have problem using them. The R35 are available. I think it will be better to wait for the right tracks...
They are not from HB but sell by trumpeter ( ref 02061)
8 January 2014, 11:59
Frank Krause
Hi Fabian,
what camouflage have you planned for this?
Here is my version: modellversium.de/gal..5--gunze-sangyo.html
8 January 2014, 12:06
Fabian D.
Those trumpeter ones cost more than I paid for the kit... have to think about that first...
@ Frank, glad to have you in, so you can tell me where exactly the hole for the flag should be😉
Haven´t decided yet about the cammo, yours is pretty nice, but I think there are some more variants to discover...
8 January 2014, 12:19
Frank Krause
Ok, I'll take a pic from top, then you can see, where the flag hole is.
I got my camouflage idea from Jean Restains book "Tanks of World War Two", but the site mentioned by Lionel should also have some. If you need some colour scans, let me know.

Fabian im in to 🙂 and frank yours is superb
Howd yoou do the mud
8 January 2014, 13:35
Frank Krause
@Hunter: Thank you! In this case it is just diluted enamel paint. Here and there some drops of undiluted paint, then washed with enamel thinner.
8 January 2014, 13:42
Hunter Cummins
No problem frank 😄😄 it looks fantastic and I will use it soon 😄
8 January 2014, 19:53
Fabian D.
many thanks for the pics Frank, gonna be a nice extra color spot...
I´ve spoken to someone on another forum, he said that the R39 tracks do also fit the suspension and aint looking too bad... so I´m waiting for the postman now😉
14 January 2014, 13:18
Frank Krause
Yeah, better not to use the rubber tracks. I was just lucky to get the Gunze version of the R35, because it got Modellkasten single link tracks.
14 January 2014, 15:08
Fabian D.
As Im not in favor for those Heller Jerks, I had a look in my stash and found a pair of matching figures, poses are great and the detail is good. So i had to depict the tank someway broken/shot down.... let´s see how far I will go.

The Hobbyboos tracks aren´t too bad either, handling is quite easy, but I had to cut of the teeth of the drive weels. The other parts matched perfectly.
15 January 2014, 23:16
Fabian D.
some HQ-pics added😉
somehow horn and light are preventing the the drivers hatch from opening...
19 January 2014, 19:01
Frank Krause
You still got the chance to move horn and light a bit to the left, that the hatch can open. I missed it.
19 January 2014, 19:12
Hunter Cummins
Should i buy this ??
19 January 2014, 19:56
Fabian D.
I might move them a bit...
@ Hunter: there is a Bronco or Hobbyboss popping up soon...😉
19 January 2014, 20:00
Hunter Cummins
Yea but for 10 dollars you cant beat it lol
19 January 2014, 20:10
Fabian D.
then get it now and push you through fast, before the new one hits the market😉
it´s not "that" bad, you have to do some scratchbuilding and you better get the repalcement tracks, too...

19 January 2014, 21:26
Hunter Cummins
Whats wrong with the tracks
19 January 2014, 21:42
Fabian D.
those are quite ugly, don´t fit the drive weel and mine were 2cm too long... and I´ve got the Hobbyboss replacement for about 5 Eur😉
19 January 2014, 22:14
Hunter Cummins
Ohhhhh 🙁 WELL I will think it over
20 January 2014, 01:09
Hunter Cummins
Im geting it lol
Im looking for replacement tracks
Do you have a parts number for the tracks that you can give me
20 January 2014, 14:57
Fabian D.
I´ve added them to the project... just below the pic and above the comments.
let´s see what you can make out of it😉
20 January 2014, 15:09
Hunter Cummins
Im sure it wont be as good as yours😉
20 January 2014, 15:27
Fabian D.
we better wait for the results😉
20 January 2014, 15:32
Hunter Cummins
Ok its a deal😉😄
20 January 2014, 15:40
Fabian D.
Lot´s of work done, interior scratched, and base coat applied.
gearbox and engine are mainly constisting out of crepe tape, superglue and paint.😉
26 January 2014, 19:45
Hunter Cummins
Nice interior
27 January 2014, 00:54
Fabian D.
upper bodys are done, still not shure which of the stonegreys I should use for the trousers...
any suggestions?
I´ve painted the jackets with lifecolors Field Grey and added the shades with a darkend tone of the same colour.
7 February 2014, 10:52
Fabian D.
cammo almost done, I think i´ll wait with the black lines till the end, cause certainly thinners and washes will mess up with the black finliner i´m planing to use...
9 February 2014, 01:19
Hunter Cummins
Lookimg good 😄
10 February 2014, 00:51
Fabian D.
I found a marker which won´t "run" away when I´m spraying the clear coat... and added the fastener for the foldable mirror (Yes, it has a mirror😉 )
Colors in the pics are slightly to dark, I´m trying it again next week or so... now I just have to scatch all tool clams...
20 February 2014, 23:45
Hunter Cummins
Me like
20 February 2014, 23:56
Fabian D.
Mark, your whish came almost true...😉
just a clear coat, weathering and the base missing... the figures are almost done, too
4 March 2014, 01:18
Hunter Cummins
Yaay 😄
4 March 2014, 02:48
Matthias Weiss
Well done Fabian! Which paints are you using on it?
4 March 2014, 05:52
Fabian D.
Thanks..quite like the future colorspot in my collection, too.
I´ve used the Revell Aquas, No. 65 for the green and the other must have been "beige", No 89 I think... currrently not shure were I´ve put the colors...😉
6 March 2014, 12:10
Fabian D.
the colour numberes were correct...
started with the base, guess you know what I´m heading for, some more groundwork, a fence and a grain field will follow soon
20 March 2014, 23:10
Hunter Cummins
Can you send me a link to a place so I can get the product numner for the noch glue in the one picture
20 March 2014, 23:23
Fabian D.
as for glue I´ve just used water thinned wood glue... but if you mean the Gras squezer, it´s Noch 08100
20 March 2014, 23:29
Hunter Cummins
Thank you fabian 😄
21 March 2014, 00:30
Fabian D.
calling the little Renault (almost) done...the base still needs a lot of work... the figures are still standing around headless, but the heads a almost ready for transplatation😢
24 March 2014, 22:49
Fabian D.
got one figure (almost) ready, from now on I´m a fan of resin heads...
30 March 2014, 19:03
Fabian D.
the figures are done (aprart from their helmets and some cosmetical work... macros don´t hide anything😉 ).
Started with brushing the field in green, as it would look like in mid/late May...
15 May 2014, 15:29
Anthony Flanagan
I like what your doing. The dio is shaping really well.
15 May 2014, 17:51
Ingo Ramin
Like them. Wish my already would look like these. But I'm on it😉
23 June 2014, 11:50
Matthias Weiss
Would tip my hat if I had one, very well done Fabian!
23 June 2014, 11:52
Jonns Pfeiffenberger
toller Fortschritt, die Gesichter der Figuren sehen toll aus! 👍
23 June 2014, 12:18
Fabian D.
Thanks guys... I´ve got the feeling resin heads are easier to paint...
but no work done since May, so this will probably be an entry for The Neglected Kit Resurrection Groupbuild...😉
26 June 2014, 08:21
Matthias Weiss
Did you use oil paints on the figures or acrylics?
26 June 2014, 08:28
Fabian D.
Both, uniforms and base colors were painted with acrylics, wood and skin with oils, although
I´m not really happy with the wood... face painting wasn´t rocket sience: simply applying burnt umbr over the skin color and then rubbed away with a soft brush... I think I´ve got pics somewere but can´t find them right now....
Thanks Michael 🙂
26 June 2014, 08:44
Fabian D.
That (pic 35) is what hold me up for 2 moths, I simply couldn´t get the motivation together to produce a little bit of barbed wire...
I´ve rearranged the setting and needed a thrid figure, which was from the wrong "party" and had to be modified in a Heer NCO. Not too difficult, I just had to cut off the SS badges, the wirstband and the eagle on the arm. Replacement for the later one came in PE from Voyager.
16 September 2014, 17:16
Es-haq Khosravi
Nice Job!
16 September 2014, 17:18
Fabian D.
Thanks for popping in Es-haq😉 I think you gave me an idea...
meanwhile I´ve continued work on Uffz. Meier😉
16 September 2014, 21:34
Es-haq Khosravi
Great that i could help you! But what idea?! 😄
16 September 2014, 22:29
Fabian D.
Guess you know why if you look at pic 39 😉
I´ve stolen "a pair of glasses" (man, English is strange sometimes...) from a Tristar Set, I really like how it changed the look of that guy... Officers Field Session Set (Tristar 35006, 1:35)

35006

17 September 2014, 21:38
Es-haq Khosravi
Wow! I didn't think there are available in the market! 🙂 They look nice! 🙂
17 September 2014, 21:43
Fabian D.
Well...they are not really available on the market, this little fret comes only with the figures... so if you could make a set, I´d be the first in line to buy one.
I really like how easy they are to attach, finding the kit in my stash took longer than putting them on😉
17 September 2014, 21:54
Es-haq Khosravi
He looks absolutely realistic now! And cam aim better! 😄
( English is really strange!😉 )
17 September 2014, 23:10
Choppa Nutta
nicely done sir !!

"I´ve stolen "a pair of glasses" (man, English is strange sometimes...)"

Like this. I´m in.
18 September 2014, 19:06
Fabian D.
Thanks chaps, I continued work on the figure, not much more than touchups and a final wash to do... seems like I can get this done til the weekend.
Concerning languages, I had only english and latin (the later one has proven to be extremely usefull in the recent years...)
quam ob rem: Nuc est bibendum!😉
18 September 2014, 20:47
Fabian D.
Ladies and Gentleman, I´m proud to announce: I´m done😉
Thanks for your support and presence on the way, I hope to get some decent pics up tomorrow (If the weather is nice, of couse...)
26 September 2014, 20:26
Albi Hitz
Hey Fabian, nice little "tank" 😉 ...
I like the figures the most ... hi-end figure painting (faces).
Nice little vignette ... Cool!
26 September 2014, 20:30
Mike K
What? No lenses in the glasses? 🙂 Awesome figures.
26 September 2014, 20:50
Es-haq Khosravi
The lenses has been broken in action, Mike! 🙂 Great job Fabian!
26 September 2014, 22:04
Clifford Keesler
Looks good to me.
26 September 2014, 23:10
Fabian D.
Thanks guys, the figures are indeed the better part of this dio...
@ Albi I think the resin heads are easier to paint as there is more structure and detail in there, so less realistic structures make a more realistic paintjob😉
Just FYI, I spend almost 3 full Days on the NCO down there... and a similar amount of time on the others...
@Mike in the first place I was happy to get the glasses on without breaking them... but I'll have do some experiments now😉
27 September 2014, 07:59
Acki
Fabulous result Fabian.

Thanks mates... completed pics start at pic 52.
BTW, there are your glasses, Mike😉
28 September 2014, 20:32
Steve Wilson
...
Please Fabian don't take this the wrong way I'm not being disrespectful,
your German soldier is very well done!!!
But when I look at him I see Renfield played by Tom Waits, the character in Bram Stokers Dracula!!!🤔
28 September 2014, 20:46
Frank Krause
Hehe, Steve, if you see a person in Fabian's figures, that proofs his skills! 👍
28 September 2014, 21:01
Choppa Nutta
now you've said it Steve I'm seeing it too !! 🙂
28 September 2014, 21:05
Fabian D.
Any similarity to persons living or dead is purely coincidental.
athough I appreciate that😉
28 September 2014, 21:14
Choppa Nutta
is anyone watching the Strain at the moment ?😉
28 September 2014, 21:20
John Van Kooten
Looking really great, Fabian! And I absolutely love the figures! Well done, mate!! 👍 👍

Like you, I also think there is thruth in what you said earlier: figures / figure heads with more detail can be painted more realistically. More easily too. The same is true for basically any model kit.
29 September 2014, 06:24
Fabian D.
Thanks John, this is absolutely true concerning vehicles... not much on the tank here were you could apply some washing...
29 September 2014, 19:13
John Van Kooten
Yeah, I was looking at that, the tank. It is amazingly smooth! Like you said, not much to wash😉
29 September 2014, 21:09
Ulf Petersen
Phantastic little scene with a vehicle that is not quite often to be seen.👍 The paint work is verty beautiful and the figures especially well done. There is a little bit of Renfield in one of them indeed! "Maaasterrr!" 🙂
Thx for sharing!
30 September 2014, 06:05

it's superb very beautiful realization, I'm going to set up this model that I have in my stocks. Thanks for the post and the detailed pictures.
