Firstly, I would like to recognise what a great improvement the 'scale' and 'topic' filters have made to the 'new releases' newsfeed on the home page. Thank you for that!

But, would it also be possible to have a 'blacklist' topics filter. I'm no prude, but I really don't need to see those 'enhanced' and scantily-clad figures from E2046 and YUFAN Model, nor the anime and gundam from Bandai for that matter.

I realise that I could eliminate these by setting topics of interest. The problem with that is my topics of interest are very broad.

So, being able to set filters for "Anime (Fiction)", "Civilians (Risque)", and "Gundam (Science Fiction)" to NOT be shown would be very welcome. Tx.

Several people have asked for this functionality, including myself - the ability for each filter item to be either an "Include" or "Exclude" filter, something like having two checkboxes per filter item instead of just one. They need to be mutually-exclusive (a filter cannot be both included and excluded at the same time) and this could be handled through a checkbox callback. (Enabling the Exclude checkbox for a filter automatically un-checks the filter's Include checkbox, and vice-versa.)

this is a different request, related but different. So it stays on TODO

No, it looks to me like the same request: the ability to exclude specific filters (in this example, Topic) from being shown in search/newsfeed/etc. "Blacklist" is just another way of saying "I don't want to see these items", which by definition is "exclude" these filters. So, same request.

this is I think about storing the "blacklisted" items in your "preferences", so you "never" see them vs. yours is about ad hoc filtering on the right hand side

Okay, good point, but I do not see "permanent" or "preferences" etc in the initial post - only "filters", so it's fair to say it looked like a filter settings request ("would it ALSO be possible to have a 'blacklist' topics FILTER"😢 within discussion about 'scale' and 'topic' FILTERS. So of course, I interpreted that as being filter settings options.

- I agree that it would be very helpful on the "About me" page (no, not ME personally 🙂 ) where Favorites are specified, to include a Blacklist feature where individual scales, groups, categories, topics, etc can be blocked from showing up anywhere on the site (new releases, newsfeed, search results, etc). Basically, the same as Favorites, except Anti-favorites (like anti-matter). I would use this too for being able to set "Star Trek" as a favorite Category and then blacklist particular Star Trek topics that I do not care to see.

- Ad hoc 'exclude' options in the filters sidebar would be very helpful for removing specific scales, brands, topics, etc from the content pane. (This is what the initial post looked like was being requested.)

- The ability to save filter configurations as a profile within a Filters dropdown at the top of the sidebar filters would be very helpful. Then a user could conveniently switch between different filter views by simply selecting different saved filter profiles.

"two checkboxes per filter item instead of just one. They need to be mutually-exclusive (a filter cannot be both included and excluded at the same time) "

That would be radio buttons, they are mutually exclusive by design. But, yes, that would work, I guess.

But Tim is correct, I was thinking of this being a Preferences setting.

I know radio buttons versus boolean checkboxes, and that would be fine if there was only one row. But since there are multiple rows of filter options it could be confusing having radio buttons in the vertical direction, and with radio buttons you don't have a way of unchecking them like you can with a checkbox.

I agree this would be a great feature to have for complimenting Favorites, being able to define brands/topics/scales for excluding from product listings and newsfeed posts.

Do you want the "blocked" topics only activated when "my topics" is active, or do you really want a full block.

Eg. Even when searching

I would say keep it consistent with the Favorites behavior (does not affect search results). For the best of both worlds, you could have a checkbox on the blacklist definitions page for whether to include them in search results, and/or a checkbox at the top of search filters for whether to include blacklisted items.

For me, it's just to stop the home page news feed from being cluttered...and so that my wife and daughters don't think I'm a pervert when they look over my shoulder!😉

I would use it to silence the flood of 3D-printed nameplates.

👍
And, if it can be extended to the flood of decals
👍👍

I'd suggest the blacklist for brands, not topics. Some brands are spammed, while the topic itself is not the problem. Take decals and nameplates for example.

indeed the bandai gundam / manga / nameplates are sometimes ( most of the time ) very annoying indeed

No, not exclusively brands. I would like to be able to add a category as a favorite, such as "Star Trek" or "Star Wars", but blacklist specific topics within those categories because I've got zero interest in them - like anything having to do with the Star Trek reboot movies or the "Discovery" TV show, or anything related to "Star Wars" episodes I, II, III, VII, VIII, and IX. I can see why some people would want to blacklist brands, but in my case the brand(s) contain topics I am interested in as well as topics that I'll never be interested in. Blacklisting specific product types would also be helpful so I never again need to see a list including 50+ nameplates obscuring visibility to items that actually are of interest to me.

An option could be to include a "Select all" in the filters, so it could be easier to unclick the unwanted categories.

I had also requested that feature way back when filters were under development but the request has not even been acknowledged yet. Besides, that would be fine for ad-hoc filtering but would not persist as a user's default like Favorites do.

Just my 2 cents on it.. please keep it as opt in filtering.. not out.. the news feed one keeps switching to popular on me and it drives me potty.

I want to blacklist everything with 1:43 scale! And those 3D printed ship parts and name plates...
