Hello mates, sorry for this OFF-TOPIC message. Here we all, we share same passion, so I can say we are all a sort of friends... so I speak to you as my friends.
First of all, sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand me the same.
I wrote from Italy, I live in Lombardia region in the north of my Country, the zone most hitted by COVID-19 Corona virus.
I know that some european government and USA too, try to understimate the disease. GUYS IT'S A SERIOUS PROBLEM, START TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES.
This virus is extremely contagious.
Here in 20 days we have more than 1000 deads by COVID-19, most of all are old people with other health problems, but without this virus they could be still alive. Unfortunately now some young people start to become ill. First signs are those of a normal flu, but in hurry they could evolve in a potential deadly pneuma.
So guys be carful... START TO STAY AT HOUSE MORE TIME AS POSSIBLE, AVOID CROWD PLACES, START TO THINK that all people you met could be infected, so avoid handshakes, hughes and kisses.
Believe me, Italy sure have some political problems, but WE AREN'T A "THIRD WORLD COUNTRY" so what happen here quickly could happen in your Country too.
Please TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
Sorry if I bored you.
A STRONG "VIRTUAL" EMBRACE TO YOU ALL.

Take care, Christian! I have many modelling friends in Northern Italy which I think of in the time of crisis. And here, just East of Italy, in Slovenia, we are officialy in a state of epidemic since yesterday with daily number of confirmed cases rising rapidly so it indeed is a strange sensation and times of uncertainty.

To those modellers, who live in countries that this virus hasn't yet spread to dramatically, be sure, when it does, it will be too late. While mortality rate seems rather low and in the rather older age demographic group, around 20% of people who get sick, require hospital care. And it is estimated that around 60-70% of total population is gonna get sick - now run the numbers and you will see that there isn't a country in the world that could by any chance provide so many hospital beds by faaaaaaaar.

So keep social contacts to minimum, stay at home if possible and do modelling - a safe way to pass through quarantine. Unfortunately I work in a sector, in which I am required to go to work, but luckily have minimal interactions so I am staying positive. Many don't have such options.

Best regards from the sunny part of the Alps, Slovenia.

Germany is closing everything down too at the moment. My kids just went home today from school, which is closed for 2 weeks, hopefully we now have enough in our stash to build our models 😉

Thanks for the message Cristian. I'm here in South Korea and we've already been dealing seriously with this COVID-19 for a month now. Thankfully, things here SEEM to be getting more stable, but that's only because the government here has tested hundreds of thousands of people, and people have been taking things very seriously in terms of washing hands, staying home away from groups (not easy in a city region of 25 million!) and keeping distance as much as possible. It's not a joke, it's not "just the flu" and even if you think you will only have mild symptoms, we each need to worry about our neighbours.

I'm very concerned about Coronavirus. My step-daughter (who I am very close to) is a doctor in a local hospital. Her ward has been designated as the Coronavirus ward for any local patients that test positive (two in at the moment). She has also been told that she is the designated Coronavirus doctor, even though she is still a junior doctor and even though she has asthma.
Yes I'm worried and I don't mind admitting it.

Here in Italy doctors and nurses they are a sort of "frontline soldiers". They do an incredible job to save as many life as possible someone at the cost of their own life. My wife's doctor yesterday passed away because Covid-19. But as Sabastijan Videc wrote "intensive therapy's bed" here are less and less. We only hope to reach the "peak of infection" soon, because the siren sound begin to be frightening.
