Have you tried getting the Airfix nowadays?
And btw where is the problem of getting another Sea Vixen kit?

Hi Sören, Its frustration that there are 100's of aircraft that have yet to be modelled in 1:48 and Trumpeter choose one of which there is a good mold already available. Yes the Airfix one is out of production at the moment but I am sure Airfix will bring it back into production soon enough like they did the lightning and Canberra.

Thats why I made the comment I made.

Best example would be for example, how about a Hunter T.Mk.7 as currently there are no two seat hunters, or a CH-3C/E which again there has not been a kit of 🙂

As far as British naval aviation is concerned, another glaring omission comes to mind:

1:48 Gannet

I simply cannot understand why an iconic airplane, built in substantial numbers and used by several countries, is not available as a mainstream injection moulded kit.

Do I _really_ have to start my Dynavector kit? 😉

Airfix kit is like Unicorn droppings and really expensive. Great. iconic plane that will sell.

Great choice!

@Dan Cook: Sadly, TrumpyBoss kits have become expensive lately as well, especially when their offerings have no or equally expensive competition (see prices for Fw-190 V18, Tunnan or Lansen). So I doubt this will be cheaper than Airfix'.

Gluefinger's right, I've heard that this kit will be about 60 to 70 euro (with postage to Europe). I doubt that Trumpy considered the Airfix kit at all, after all, it's out of production and possibly not that easy to get a second-hand one in their home market, so for them it's understandable. It would be great if the manufacturers would cooperate because a 1/48 Gannet would make more sense, but of course it's not going to happen.

Sea vixen will sell way more than a Gannet. I would love a Gannet but that's not everybody's cup of tea

How can this be - there's no sight more beautiful to behold than a Gannet with its wings folded. 😉
If you don't agree, read my ARC article:

Come on Airfix. Keep an eye on the competition. And how about a 1:48 Sea Hawk ? Javelin ? TSR2 ?

A re-release of the javelin, tsr2 they did, would be great. not so sure on the seahawk as theres already one 🙂, how about a twin pioneer or argosy instead?

Trumpeter and any other brand don't care and have nothing to do with profits of the next brand's kit, in this case Airfix... it's strictly commercial POV and not unusual at all. Latest example is Tamiya Bf109G... Original, it is not, I agree

Besides the fact that the Tamiya Bf 109G main group aren't the modellers in Europe.
The main market for this kit is their home market in Japan, because Eduard kits are quite expensive their.

Agree. There are many similar instances with same kits regardless ... remember the AMK/Kinetic Kfirs or AMK/ HobbyBoss MiG-31 coming out the same year ... and the KittyHawk/HobbyBoss Su-17

The main market for ANY kit produced the big Japanese kit makers is their home market. Exports for them are a negligible quantity. That's why they do not invest a lot of time and energy in finding local distributors in Europe and end up with a bunch of business partners who aren't really interested in pushing their products, but are happy selling small quantities of overpriced items (Faller, Dickie, ...).

I hate that the kits from Japan and China are so expensive here in the U.S. I have yet to see this new Sea Vixen anywhere in the U.S. I think the new Airfix Sea Fury is now available. Not many U.S. kit manafactures anymore. And Revell USA. has discontinued most of their kits.

It's the same here in Australia. The kits from china are now more expensive than stuff from japan around $90-$100 Aud for a 1/72 Trumpeter Su-34 thats too much, Even their Su-24's were around $80 each. Lucky i picked up a couple at a swap n sell on the weekend for $40 each! I think it's the local importers charging too much? That's why i try and buy most of my stuff directly from the country it comes from and ship it directly to myself still works out cheaper than the local shops most of the time! I wait a while now for most new releases sometimes even get them on sale! Hell it's not like i haven't got anything to build! 🙂
