Very promising, count me in! 🙂

Thanks Thomas. I got the package yesterday and unfortunately someone in the shop mixed up models, so I get the M983 truck and Trumpeters Smerch instead of Launcher. I had to send back the Smerch and waiting for the launcher so in the meantime I'm working on truck.

I'm in too for this one...

Me too! 🙂

Bart, Harry - You are most welcome.
Michael - Thank you. I will gladly follow your build.
Unfortunately Trumpeter weirdly designed wheels and rims. They are not attached on polycaps (quite logical for me), instead you have to glue rims and then attach tyres. I would prefer to have frame and wheels separately. It will ease painting for me. I have to develop how to do it different then manual.

Nice project after the Smerch truck, will follow.

Michael - Got it. So now I'll have to wait until you finis your project. 😉
Marco - Thank you.

Count me in, I enjoyed the SMERCH and this one will turn out fine as well I trust

Mike Grant
This new kit makes my Italeri version redundant. Looking good so far!

Przemek Przybulewski
Wim - Thank you. I'm glad that you like my Smerch model.
Mike - Thank you. As for Italeri and quality - well, to be honest, it is hard to say it is. I get rid of M977 (the one I did was from Revell) but I still have M978 fuel tanker, so if you want I can take a look and compare the frame and suspension for you. This Trumpy kit is not the best - I would say it is typical Trumpeter quality. It is fine but not as good as I expected.

Glenn
Look forward to this!

Przemek Przybulewski
Glenn - Welcome aboard.
Michael - It's not so bad, but honestly I thought that it will be better. It is not a cheap kit and it's the latest release - that's why I assumed that quality of parts, molds and overall fit will be highest class. Or it's just maybe my expectations are so high after the Smerch. 😉

Looking forward to another master piece! 🙂

Przemek Przybulewski
Thank you John. I hope you won't be dissapointed.
I did a front wheels turned a little bit and then suprise - I had a serious problem with attaching some rods (parts C38, C39). I will later post some photos to what exactly pay attention if you want to turn wheels a little bit.

I like the copper wiring to depict the hose!! Great idea!! I definetly won't be disappointed! 😉

nice progress with this build... Nice feature with the positionable supports...

liking the engineering 🙂

Przemek Przybulewski
John - Thank you.
Bart - Slowly but trying to do something from time to time. Positionable support took a lot of time.
Choppa - Thanks.
I used 3mm tubes with 2mm hole, I had to drill this hole bigger to 2,5mm to put another tube. In this one hole was 1,6mm and as I wanted to use a threaded 2mm rod I had to drill bigger hole.
For the joints I used 1mm and 0,6mm steel rod.

should do a little movie demonstrating the articulations 🙂

I've just done some working sprung telescopics and bell cranks etc. for my Sci Fi Kit Bash,
satisfying that it works and that I didn't glue it solid by accident 😄

Anyhow, always nice to see working features on a model,
really helps the realism along 🙂

John Dunbar
You must have a lot of time! 🙂 👍 Fantastic work!

Przemek Przybulewski
Choppa - I have seen your SciFi album, great work. I envy you your imagination and drawing skills. Top work on the blue print as well.
John - Thank you. Having own mancave helps a lot - I do not waste time on preparing workbench and cleaning. My table is long enough to have a place to paint, glue, build base, put a laptop, scroll saw etc.
Michael - Thank you very much. Im glad with the effect even if this costs me a a lot of time and nerves.

Radar is very simple construction. It contains only two main parts, some smaller parts like ladder and few different boxes on trailer. I would say it is about 10% of the whole launcher/radar kit.
Most parts goes on trailers, the construction is pretty much the same in both cases with only different holes to be drilled on top.
I cannot wait to see your build. 😉

looks nice.. love the paintjob so far.

Is the sled for mounting the trailer also camouflaged? Wouldn't it be better to make this one black with a lot of grease on it?

Just looked it up, and it seems to be camouflaged first: primeportal.net/m983_walk_pb.htm

Thank you Bart. Vehicle is painted so next I will try to add some dirt, dust, oil and fuel stains, grease etc.
But thanks for heads up. 😉

Pascal - Thank you.

Looking really good, are you going to use it in a diorama ? I think it would look great especially if one of the missiles was being launched,
15 February 2016, 17:38
Przemek Przybulewski
Thank you Steve. Yes, I will build a base for it. I was thinking about launching a missile, some smoke, like, dust and stuff like that. Problem is that those vehicles, especially trailers with expanded support legs are quite big and you need a lot of space to put all three vehicles on the same base.

Clifford Keesler
Looking very nice.

nice work so far, when displaying a launched rocket, maybe this can help?

Micha - Thank you.
Thomas - Thank you very much.
Gents, last two photos shows two different layout on two bases.
How do you think, which one looks better?
24 February 2016, 13:33
Bart Goesaert
I would also vote for the last option, but it also seems a bit close... but one set already mounted and one on it's way...
24 February 2016, 13:40
Przemek Przybulewski
Thank you Bart. It looks close but I will try to fit vehicles there. Additionally support legs of Launcher will be folded to gain some space.
25 February 2016, 15:12
Choppa Nutta
I like the way you've done the cabling with socket ends and bushings etc. 🙂
25 February 2016, 15:26
Przemek Przybulewski
Thank you Choppa and James.
I think that model is ready. Maybe during the weekend I will have some time to take last photos and upload them here.
And with this model I run out of shelf space.

I just started this kit, how did you achieve the camp paint job? It looks absolutely amazing. Very impressive

Gosh!!... Just love scrolling through the feed and coming across dioramas like this. The work involved... Looks so impressive!

Top work! Everything very well done!
31 March 2021, 08:18
Przemek Przybulewski
Thank you Roger, Neil and Neuling
Much appreciated
As for Camp paint - well, as usual it was an experiment, using some regular wall paint pigments, water, sponge brush and later XF-59 and some Vallejo powder pigments. Trying, mixing, painting, trying again there is so many layers that I was never able to recreate this in my later bases 🙁
