Took off the canopy masks, little damage but easily fixable.

Can anybody help me out on the airfix decals? I just cant seem to get them bent. I use Humbrol decalfix and this medium has worked well for me so far when doing Eduard's kits, did a swirl on a propellorhead without issues Fw 190A-3 | Album by BunnyKiller , but Airfix decals just seem to be my or Humbrols achillis heel 😛
Any tips would be welcome!
Was thinking on trying another medium, but so many options 😠

Ciao, I don't usually build Airfix kits so I don't know...Changing the softener (I use Microscale products) could be an option!

Patience with the D-Day decals mate. I used them too have used Revell Decal Soft and it came out good i think. With weathering they look real... But i also decided to paint in future, as i did on my C-47.
Great work so far!

Thanks Moreno, I will make sure to order it next time around 🙂 Hopefully Modelbaukonig is still able to add it to an running order that should be sent when they get the ghost of Kyiv in.

And thanks Edward, I will try soaking them extra long. I did add decal solution like 8 times, but maybe just let it sit in it for 10 minutes (?) does a better job. I will need to airbrush the yellow wing edges though, since I scrubbed them off after they started breaking apart 😛 Btw, your Typhoon looks great!

Decals can sometimes be randomly and strangely problematic for me. I have built some airfix aircraft and haven't noticed any particular decal issues myself (yet). I typically clear gloss coat (which I see you have) and let dry for a day if I can. If I see or feel that the clear gloss coat is bumpy in any way, I lightly wet sand the clear coat with 5000 grit sanding sponge. For softener I use the Micro Set and Micro Sol products as they work for me fairly well. I am careful with Micro Sol as it can mark the paint if you lay it on super heavy on the paint sometimes randomly. For D-day or invasion stripes, I usually paint them. I paint the white then use tape strips and paint the black. Thereby avoiding any unforeseen issues with decals. Decals can be very hit or miss sometimes so if I can paint instead, I usually paint the markings. I haven't purchased a circle cutter to paint roundrels but if I have a terrible experience with decal roundrels I will probably start painting them as well.

8 Times... and no result? Change the softener. It works, but to paint is much easier and realistic.
Thanks for liking my Typhoon 🙂 The pictures are awful, need a better camera!

Thanks for the elaborate response Scott 🙂 I will definitely get the micro sol/set. For the rest we seem to be doing the same except for the medium we use so I hope that'll fix my issue. For the D-day spitfires The Longest Day (Eduard 2125, 1:72) I will for sure be painting the invasion stripes though 😄 (not that I really have a choice there, but even if I had... 😛)
Painting (complex)markings is next level for me though, maybe a few more kits down the road 🙂

Beautiful collection you have btw! Definitely more experienced with the airbrush 😉

Yeah Edward, I know right 🙁, i thought 8 would me more than enough, but the decal medium just doesn't do enough flexing to the decals. I seem to be the only one with this issue, so I hope changing the medium fixes it but it could just be me of course 😄. Also considering buying aftermarket decals for all future Airfix kits btw, since I only seem to have the issue with Airfix.

Okay Peter, but in my opinion Airfix produce absolut great decals! Never had any problems with them. i Really recommend «Decal Soft» from Revell. I use it since i do model kits. 🙂

Thanks! I will try that one too 🙂
In the end managed to get them all on except for the yellow stripes, so I'm not done spaying just yet 😛

Got the yellow stripes on 🙂 Needs a few touch ups though and then onto the weathering.

Hahaha, definitely! We say it's for the kids but.... 😛
Has been my improv spray booth for almost 3 years now. The bottom has a thick layer of paint on it, might have to replace it soon. Luckily my son's birthday is next week 😇

Well, the kit is finished. Learned a lot, tried a few techniques that where new to me. Maybe one day it'll get a diorama, but this will do for now. Thanks for taking a seat, hope you enjoyed it 🙂
Next up is an A10 warthog which I started 4 years ago.
