This is probably supposed to appeal to kids.
I am afraid, however, that this old clunker will not endear many of them to our hobby.
Would a more exciting subject with a modern tooling really have been so much more expensive?

I do agree that the subject probably won't appeal to kids and building it might put them off modelling, but it is incredibly expensive to tool a modern kit. Which is why they churn these oldies out endlessly.

Every modelling company which have been running as long as Airfix do exactly the same thing. Not ideal, but I suppose we would do the same thing if it was us in charge of trying to make a profit.
