MiG-29 in Ukrainian Air Force

This was intended as a passion build out of tribute to the brave pilots of the Ukrainian Air Force who continue to give their lives to protect their people and their country. I ordered the IBG kit and ordered some add on AGM-88 HARM Missiles as I thought using Western weapons on a Russian built jet was quite cool (ICM do a MIG-29 with HARM Missile but this came out after I bought this kit).

The build itself was OK. A few gaps in some of the parts but came together okay other than the undercarriage.

In short- the undercarriage is absolutely horrific on this kit. The instructions are also so terrible I ended up sticking the main undercarriage parts upside down originally before getting so frustrated I improvised using bits of the sprue to glue them together with lots of super glue. Additionally, the nose undercarriage doors have two of the SAME panel so I left one off as it looked ridiculous.

The decals were OK but I found the lighter grey on the digital camo to be too dark compared to the real thing. There are one or two decals that are just too big and haven’t conformed to the surface well at all. They are big so I used a lot of decal fix but sadly some are peeling at the edges of the wings. There are also too many maintenance markings, my advice: USE ONLINE PICTURES to get the proper look of these kits, the digital camo hides many on the top surface.

My honest review in summary is: 5/10 im happy with the final look but I would recommend getting the ICM kit over this one and it already includes the HARM missiles without needing to buy separately. This ended up as an unenjoyable build come the end of it which is not what this hobby is about….
