nice choice, I will watching your Argentine Walrus with interest! I do have the same with all available Eduard etched sets and the rigging wires, too. I also can also recommend you the resin engine set from VECTOR (huge improvement of the exposed engine)

Many online comments about this model mention being extra careful with fuselage construction, because there is a lot of plastic that can get in the way, due to the excellent interior detail.

They are right and I have used several modeling sessions just working to get that fit as good as i can.

Not real exciting stuff...no photos...but, it is time well spent.

After market rigging wire which don´t fit is very annoying. Where did you get these streamlined wire from RB? Seems like it is easy to find like a needle in the hay. But as far as your work: very nice progress! I am curious how it will look after all wires are at their place.

There has been what can only be described as a modeling disaster as the masks came off the windows....photos are almost too gruesome to post.

....not at all sure what went wrong but the paint just came up and the edges were ragged....there was a layer of primer over the clear plastic for sure...so, it was primed.

....there was a layer of glosscoat over the paint but not a thick coat...i thought....honestly, no clue what happened...

...bottom line, this Walrus is going to get done, but this canopy work will need some creativity and may show its character....

What a pity! You did used EDUARD masking tape? Never had a problem with these, but I had similar experiences with cheap plastic masking foils. Maybe you ask AIRFIX for replacement canopy parts? Show us the pics, modellers are used to see gruesome pics 🙂

....well...if you insist...i suppose it would be good to have a photo record of this disaster...

Yes, these were eduard masks....I think the overcoat was just too thick...there are signs of that elsewhere and overcoats have been a sticky point for me in the past...

Could have been worse... Maybe you can scratch off excess color with a sharpened wooden toothpick. Worked for me before already.

Scraping and painting and scraping again was the window plan.... it turned out sorta bleah but its time to move on and decide this model won't be anyone's prizewinner but at least its done....

This is a friendly and supportive community.....who has no idea where the flaws are (like i do)....anyway, thank you for your kind comments and hopefully you will enjoy the new flash pix just posted.

I did enjoy the build and, in all, do think it is fun to look at and will bring a smile for sometime.

What a beautiful result ! Rigging and painting look excellent. Don' we all know these masking disasters when you ask yourself, why all the proven ways of doing things fail for no visible reason..... I think you did a great job with the canopy, no flaws visible from here ! 👍

You know, no model is flawless 😉 A flawless model is just a packaged kit. As soon as you open the box, this dream is over.
The flash light is a bit strong?! I like the orange in pic30 more. But I know it's hard to get nice daylight photos in November.

Thank you! It is fun to have that beaching platform...someone should make a resin kit just for that....for all the floatplanes out there.....it was fun to paint the bright colors and attach "danger" decals....

thank you everyone...this is a series of photos where i quickly bend the antenna and then fire a shot...and then bend it again....and again....poor little guy gets no respect and gets in the way of everything...

if orange wings with footprints are your thing...look no further than the Walrus painting crew in Argentina....

Impressive build mate, looks like a difficult kit. The catapult is a nice addition. Any further diorama plans with it?

This is one of the nicest Walruses I've seen - really nice job! Thank you also for posting detail pics of the NeOmega catapult. I'm in the middle of building mine, but have spent the last few hours removing the parts from the plugs and otherwise cleaning them up. Your pictures are very helpful.

Nice job!!
