What's that Pontiac doing with those Chevys? LOL
HAAAAAAHAHA!!!!!! It's defending the honour of the Big Chief 😄
Notice that it's at the front where it rightfully belongs
They should have ditched the Pontiac and used the 78 Corvette instead !!
😄 😄 😄
The best pace car ever was the Hurst Olds Cutlass that Linda Vaughn used to ride on the deck 👍
I second that. In fact I have a picture of her on my bench in a Grand Prix.
Bill I know you're a Poncho fan like I am, but we still respect the others........I think? LOL!
Yes we do. But only the Big Blocks.
Small block shaming 😄 😄 😄
There's no replacement for displacement!
I have to second Timbo ! Munkys right about the 72 Olds too ! My personal fav pace car was the 68 Torino.

I've had another idea after a lot of trial fitting;
The wheel itself prevents the strut from laying low enough in the wheel well so that the wheel covers fit flush.
So, I might try splitting the assembled wheels in to their halves & install just the back half of the wheel see if that gives me clearance.
It looks you were successful 👍
Think I've done it & preserved the depth of the wheel & maintained the hub part of the strut & the wheel cover.
I followed Rolands lead & it inspired me to experiment with several ideas. I decided to split the wheel halves to get the required depth I wanted & went from there, pleased with the result!
Sorry Roland I missed your comment when I was loading the pic, thanks mate!

Seemed fitting to start building Eddie's ride on Friday the 13th 😄
Count me in 👍
Glad to have you aboard Roland........ it's not a car or a bike......... I need all the help I can get 😄
Woooo! Munkey is doing a plane!
I bet you still have your cut down t-shirt and spandex trousers !
Sadly I'm not in long trousers yet Nigel............ but..........I've got some left over pink shag from the transit I might use on the cockpit
That would look different but not very Eddie. Is there any Iron Maiden related decals ?
Yeah mate there's the official logo decals for the underside of the wings & the fuselage plus some Eddie related 'kill' decals for the nose.
I'd quite like to go a bit extreme on the weathering....... more like battle scarred & close to self destruction, bullet holes, damaged panels tearing away from the airframe, bit of blood......... a bit like the demonic Eddie himself.
Yeah, that sounds great go for it !
I found footage of maiden at Donington 2013 with the spitfire fly past
Demonic spitfire? Sounds cool 👍

I actually have a Ram 150 van with a 360 Magnum in it waiting on my drive for similar treatment
I'm not reliving my youth mates.......... I never grew up 😄
So your van will have the 'Munky shag' look !

Yeah mate, that's where I saw her in bits too. Later, I took the Mrs to the NRM. We saw Mallard, Tornado, Evening Star and all the rest, both in the Great Hall, and outside. When I was in PA, we went over to Strasburg. Dude, our American cousins blow us away! The train museum there is epic! Now them beasts really make you feel small! Definitely worth a trip if you get up Lancaster way, in Pennsylvania. So is the Mack museum in Allentown. Dude, I nearly creamed my pants in there! There's tons to see and it's free, plus you get a guided tour. There's also the America on wheels museum. When we got there, it was about to close, so I'm planning a trip back. You can see pictures of all these places on TripAdvisor. Definitely worth a look mate 👍
Since this topic has wandered off into locomotives, I just was curious if you have seen a Union Pacific 6900 series. My Grandfather was a design and testing engineer and spent many hours in the first one made. It is my understanding that it is the most powerful diesel-electric locomotive ever made. My Grandpa said it wasn't really a success due the limitations of tractive effort (wheel to rail grip).
That's a great story Bill! I looked it up......
Now that's a what I call a 'loco' loco
Max tractive torque of 114,000 ft/lbs????
That's a great story Bill!!! 🙂
'no nightfighter's gonna stop us now'....

I agree with Chaz! Nice work on this! A shame about the decals.
Think the decal disaster did you a favour.
Nice Camaro Munkyslut. I would like to have one like that in 1:1.
I had a '77 & an '&0, just rotten old wrecks as a kid, the first was just a 6 cylinder 3 speed manual & the 2nd was a 350 with a TH350 & a 10bolt posi, both great fun!
Yeah Chaz! I agree, the simple hood stripe is more than enough. Those huge side panels looked shit mate

I love the big bombers, I've got a few in the stash now, mainly vintage Red Stripe cos of the awesome box art of Roy Cross.
I noted the B-17G too, my childhood writ large in these collections of yours!
Pleased you approve! Maybe you can recommend some planes to fill out the collection?
I have the Liberator next on my radar, specifically the version with the Jolly Roger decals on the tail fins.
Lanc & Wellington soon to follow!

Managed to find a bit of time to start on something while I'm waiting for parts for my other builds.
I bought this from a guy on eBay who had started it over 4@ years ago & by his own admission ruined it.
I don't know why I find it enjoys but I love resurrecting kits that really should be heading for the bin.
This was a real shitter, everything cracked, snapped, covered in gobs of glue & some awful attempt at painting that has me believing they turned their hoover on backwards to spray it 😄
I've managed to rebuild & paint the frame, engine, exhausts, assembled the forks & rear wheel.
Every part had to be filed, sanded, stuck back together, not easy when the items are crumbling in your hands due to corrosion from excessive solvent & general deterioration.
The Molotow pen has earned its money on this one, just waiting on scam of Tamiya Light Blue metallic to spray the tank & mudguards, then wiring & assembly.
Yeah 1/8 is a good scale for bikes, I find even 1/12 too fiddly for my simian sausage fingers 😄
1/6 is my favourite but I've pretty much done all the Tamiya bikes now, just a few favourites left in stash.
Munky you're as messed up as me! Just in a different way, It seems I have to twist up 90% of the kits I do. I might have to try a resurrection!
The work continues........ Tamiya TS-54 Light Metallic Blue will suit the early 70's chrome & alloy look nicely.
Some imperfections in the tank but I daren't fill & sand it any more, there's almost no original material left!
First time I've used a wash too, I've seen some of you using it on plane panel lines & I used it to give some depth to the barrel fins & crankcase joins.
I love the way it flow, can't wait to use it on my Revell 1/32 Iron Maiden Spit
Keep it up! Keep experimenting and finding new ways! Looking good!
Finally glued the completed front wheel/forks/yokes assembly to the frame headstock so I have what looks like a bike now.
Tank & seat are yet to be glued on but the Tamiya Light Metallic Blue looks really good against the chrome & alloy, pleased with that choice!
Tried to use the original vinyl tubing for the cables, fuel lines & plug leads but it's so brittle it either snaps off the spigots it's due to go onto or just keeps pinging off
Bloody annoying but I'm sure I can get some new supple tubing from somewhere, I'll keep the original as patterns.

Any plans for the Corvette?
Yeah I'll get around to building it sometime, probably as the box art, that's what drew me to it in the first place.
I've had so much to do at my business dealing with the bat flu I've hardly had time for anything.
Sadly I just lost me mum so the funeral & probate are now taking more of my time up.
So sorry to hear that. Take care and hope all goes well.
Cheers mate, I'll be back soon
