Got a bunch of old Revell Phantoms off Evilbay for relatively cheap recently. Estate sale. All bagged, no decals. Surprisingly, only a couple had very minor pieces missing. I should have enough decal sheets & spares to cover a relatively plain bird from Operation BOLO, 2 January 1967 over North Vietnam.

I grabbed a couple of newer tool stick actuators to plop into the office. Well, at first they wouldn't go in because the...

Cool idea. I have a few of these kits left. I plan to do one as if we had aftermarket back in the sixties as active as it is today. I also have a few of the first gen Hasegawa kits left, I plan to do one of those the same way. LOL, about all that will be left of those two kits with be the fuselage, wings and stabs, by the time the upgrades all get added.

PS, a "sixties aircraft builder's trick" for that Revell Phantom,,,,,,,,put spreader bars, about 3 or 4, on the inside bottom of the fuselage, to insure contact with the top wing halves when you cement those on. Otherwise, your wings will curl up after a year or two and your Phantom will look like a snack bowl from the front view. (caused by the pull of the wings where they are cemented to the fuselage halves) You'll see what is needed when you dry fit the parts.

Thanks for that heads-up, Rex! The 'Gentleman's Scale' Revell Phantoms I built in the '70's and '80's mostly didn't stick around long enough for me to find that out 😉 Not doing any AM on this. See the photo album for details but just sprucing up the crew stations and burning cans. Decals will be cobbled together.

I added the ESCI RF-4C 'Recce Phantom' to the project because I will be using many of the stencils from that kit's sheet on this project. I have some nice AM sheets for it when I build it.
