![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/3/5/7/1665357-49836-28-720.jpg)
2021/22: OOB build of the vintage '96 AA Models 1/48 kit.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/9/4/9/1207949-49836-96-720.jpg)
It's not a kit you see much of in Europe.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/9/5/0/1207950-49836-79-720.jpg)
Very basic instructions.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/9/5/1/1207951-49836-83-720.jpg)
Minimal decal action will be required.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/9/5/2/1207952-49836-35-720.jpg)
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/9/5/3/1207953-49836-79-720.jpg)
After some struggling with clamps, tape, bands and holding it together whilst reading a book! It's all shaped up a bit nicer.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/9/5/4/1207954-49836-23-720.jpg)
Kit only makes provision for wheels down.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/9/5/5/1207955-49836-61-720.jpg)
Making it all fit by scribing, cutting, melting, chopping, etc. Blutack holds in place whilst glue goes off.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/9/5/6/1207956-49836-86-720.jpg)
Airbrakes and front wheel flaps are miles off!
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/7/4/5/1219745-49836-20-720.jpg)
Ready for priming.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/7/4/6/1219746-49836-90-720.jpg)
The undercarriage flaps are a bit of a hash I accept, but all closed up and I will tidy up more.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/8/8/3/1244883-49836-91-720.jpg)
Trying a new technique, as not overly concerned with ruining the build...
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/8/8/4/1244884-49836-27-720.jpg)
I don't have one of those posh stencil things, so using degrees of diluted white wash/highlights to gain a variable tone. I will also flatten off any paint high points from the brush.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/8/8/5/1244885-49836-73-720.jpg)
Subsequently smoothed down and tones evened out...
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/8/8/6/1244886-49836-62-720.jpg)
Underside done!
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/8/8/7/1244887-49836-50-720.jpg)
Base coat, which I've subsequently changed. More pictures to follow...
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/6/0/1/1301601-49836-57-720.jpg)
I airbrushed a 'what if' scheme loosely based on the kit instructions. Then decided that I didn't like the blends and so...
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/6/0/2/1301602-49836-83-720.jpg)
I hand painted it and added blends here and there instead. Camouflage colour scheme is made up.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/6/0/3/1301603-49836-26-720.jpg)
Adding some paint details...
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/6/0/4/1301604-49836-56-720.jpg)
Scheme camouflage shape though is loosely based on their instructions.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/6/0/5/1301605-49836-50-720.jpg)
Gloss varnished, just because I didn't want to waste my matt stuff!
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/7/8/0/1301780-49836-63-720.jpg)
Decals (though translucent) actually applied very well. Dipping canopy in Pledge.

Hi Robert 🙂 yeah, I'm not too sure about the heritage on this one. It's all a bit crappy plastic for sure, but we'll see how it turns out, it's supposed to be an in-between build 👍

I'm in, I think I know exactly the word "crappy" mean, this was one of my childhood nightmare.

Hi Chan Li, hope you are well, thanks for commenting. Yes. My apologies, maybe I should have said 'not the best plastic' to be more polite on a global forum 😉 ...Your builds look marvellous btw - especially that latest Chengdu - not a kit I see a lot pop-up on here 👍

Haha honestly I prefer "crappy", I would have used the same description. Actually I'm super curious how it look after a proper build and painting, never thought this antique kit can fly to Europe 😂, I can't even find it over here…
I wasn't assured if people like my build… especially Chengdu J-10 isn't pop over here

Guilty as charged too! Trying the odd older kit, just to see what I can do with it.
Looking good Neil!

Hi all 🙂 I've finally got around to taking 'reveal' pictures for many of my previous build albums. I shall be updating each and including a few build notes in the description too.
Here is my version of the AA Models Shenyang J-6 kit, completed in 2022 (it wasn't the best fitting). And to make it more difficult l decided that I'd paint the camouflage freehand with a hairy stick - just for fun! Hahaha!
The colour scheme is my interpretation of a few 'War Thunder' web images I found. I just had fun with this one and treated it as an exercise in paint use.
Much thanks to all who showed interest and liked, you're very kind, especially to have commented on my efforts with here 👍

Wow! Thanks very much mates. This kit isn't the greatest (I know excuses!) I really just used it as an exercise in brush painting camouflage and practicing weathering. Totally aware it's completely unrealistic. So very humbled and pleased to have all of you comment 🙂
