A really cool way to present the Chinook! 👍 And a very nice job on making the single color green interesting with the shading and the panel differences too!

Every praise you got here is well deserved! A dynamic, clever and cool diorama!

Thank you very much Slavo, Konrad! Very happy to have your approval! I tried to replicate the shading of a specific Chinook as closely as possible, so that added a fun challenge to the painting and weathering process.

A great idea for a dio. Makes me think how it would look if the propellers would work too, if that would even be possible on a tandem frame.

Checked some references and while I did not found exactly your tactical number machine, the discoloration and panel-effects are really good and well matching the wear of the originals 👍 + I really like the "lo-vis for camouflage" version of the Dutch colors roundel applied here... 🙂

Thank you Steven! I am sure it would be possible, but just like the real thing it would be very tricky. The timing between the blades is essential, and making a gearbox like the real thing is next to impossible.

Thanks again Slavo, I spent a lot of time studying references to get this (for me) iconic look right on my model. It was a fun process and I'm very happy with the result. Here is a picture of D-667 czechairspotters.com/photo.php?id=4698

What an awesome Dio!!! This is very creative and dynamic. The model itself is also very well done, weathering is perfect. Well done!!!

fantastic!! it only need a small motor and a battery, and get those rotors moving 🙂

Thank you Spanjaard, Olivier! I debated that, but it would be very difficult to do. The timing on the rotors is crucial, and I don't see how I could have done that properly. Then there's the vibrations. I think it would have destroyed the model!

I consider to try it on my new Academy 1/48 Sea Knight, that's why I brought it on. But I would try to have it go slowly, on an engine startup, to avoid vibrations that would cause it to jam. I've got some rotor PE to make things more complicated... It would rule out the idea you got for this diorama, to have it "airborne". But it should be possible with two differentials to keep the rotors matched.

I love the obvious solution for keeing the heli up in the air and how the Chinook dominate the base plate. I like it alot. 🙂

Interesting idea Steven. I think a differential is a must, or ar least some connection between the rotors. I don't think two separate motors can be timed reliably enough to prevent a rotor strike. I didn't want to tackle those problems on this build as it could very well have ruined an other wise very nice project, but I'm curious to see how you can make it work!

Thank you very much Treehugger! Glad you like it. The Chinook certainly dominates the scene! Even though I had been up close and personal with the Chinook before, it surprised me just how big the helicopter actually is, even in scale.

That is an awesome looking Chinook and such a fantastic way to display it! 👍👍👍
How did you find the kit, and any issues to be weary of?
I have the Italeri 1/48 ACH-47A attack version put away to build at some point.

Thank you gentlemen! James, the build was pretty straightforward. No major fit issues, but some filler was required to fit the fuselage over the interior nicely.

That's correct Rui. I liked Michael's idea, so I wanted to contribute something too.
