Yak-52 - Hobby Park
Sprues
Internal parts inserted
A LOT of nose weight is required
Fuselage assembled and clamped
Gaps filled with Tamiya White Putty
Wing dihedral shaped under running hot water
Wings attached and gaps filled
Engine cooling opening deepened with Tamiya scribing tool
Primed with Mr Surfacer 1000
Camo pattern copied from pictures
Pattern drawn on with a soft pencil
Masks created from acetate sheets
Main color airbrushed on (Tamiya acrylics - own mix)
Masks prepared
Yellow splazhes airbrushed through the masks for soft demarcation lines
Masking putty used in some difficult areas
Underside masked
Underside painted blue (Tamiya acrylics - own mix)
Canopy masked and painted separately
Wingtips and engine flanges painted red by hand
Gloss coat added before decalling
Decalling
Instrument panel drawn in Photoshop and printed on blank decal sheet
Cockpit painted and decalled with my own decals - too bad almost nothing will be visible under the thick canopy
Almost finished!
Some subtle weathering - the real aircraft are kept meticulously clean
Final details added
I wish I could open up this canopy!
Shame about the wonky landing gear - the struts are so weak that they crumble under the model's own weight - they should probably be replaced with a metal dito.

Nice looking Yak, Thomas. Looks like the kit needs a lot of work to get as nice a finish as yours...

Łukasz, you should know - it is originally yours (I think GPM should pay you a commission). 😉 BTW, I was just testing out ideas for the apron concrete paintwork.
