998 Cooper engine
Rust and metal undercoat, prior to MIG Scratches coat
Some Maskol for some very bare bits of bodywork
Trying the salt technique on the bonnet
Rinse and blow dry...
Bonnet balanced in place (still on a bit of sprue!) to check wear makes sense.
Fairly clean seats - just beginning to scuz them up a bit (technical term)
Scuzzed seats, with junk and protruding seat spring on rear, mud and rust on the floor.
The rare convertible Mini Cooper 🙂
Coat of dust applied. Number plate home made - HT is for Bristol, B is 1964, when this model first came out.
Bit of Plastic Padding on the front wheel arch. Windscreen wiper sweep marks too.

Meanwhile... my daughter's R50 Cooper. Funky interior (Alclad Candy!)
My daughter's R50 Cooper: chassis ready to go. Ironically, my more complicated "old" Mini has been a much smoother build.
Main bodywork Vallejo Sand-yellow, currently masked up for Alclad Candy Blue stripes on the bonnet to match the roof panel shown.

playtime 222Hmmm. I looked at putting a sink into my basement workshop for this and wet sanding and airbrush cleaning but it's 500EUR for the damned pump 🙁

My daughter Martha and I got a pair of Revell Mini Coopers at the IPMS Gloucester model show - her's a new (BMW) model Mini (but an older kit, ironically), and mine is the original Mk1 Cooper 998 from the early 60's.
