Winter Warfare
Take a look at the base plate!! I guess it happened through storage.
Somehow it's funny....
There are a couple of things you should not do at 6:00 am. One of them is a hot water bath for plastic parts...
neatened the hull a bit. There will be scratchbuild needed.
A well placed shot with a 152 HE round from a ISU-152 could blast a Tiger turret out of the hull. Of curse such a gun needs a thick mantle!
Update 1: I have added some details to the superstructure and glued the gun mantle to the hull.
Update 1: Pictures show that on many ISUs the fenders have been partially removed. My model will show the same. Zvezda has not specified which version this ISU is, I will make a early one. Therefore I will add a molding structure to the lower glacis.
Update 1: As the base plate is deformed, I had to add the side parts of the hull first. I will get myself some plastic sheet and rebuild the base plate and build up the hull.
Update 1: Working on the wheels now. As I want to make a early ISU I can not use the Eastern Express track links. I will get Trumpy's 650mm tracks instead and if I am lucky (or my wife in a good mood) I'll add RB Models' gun barrel.
Update 2: Got the platic sheet delivered and built up the hull. Wasn't easy, the glue I bought did not work with the kit's plastic. But Tamiya's cement worked on both.
Update 2: On the back plate I had to do a lot of rework and need to rebuild some nuts that are lost now.
Update 2: RB Models gun barrel is slightly longer than the kit barrel. I like it, can't wait to assemble it.
Update 2: Trumpy's workable track links are around 18.75mm and therefore fit perfectly to the ISU.
Update 3: Couldn't do much on the model during last week but began to close the downside of the superstructure. Otherwise you could have a look into the empty tank...
Update 3: I added a molding structure with tamiya putty to the gun mantlet and the lower glacis.
Update 3: Early ISUs had a molded lower glacis instead of a welded one.
Update 3: It looks very rough but my reference pictures of a Finish ISU look similar: andreaslarka.net/ps745001/ps745001.html
Update 4: I was kind of lazy over the last weeks but since this weekend I'm back in. World of tanks just attracted me too much... 🙁 So, build up the wheels for the monster.
Update 4: Fuel tanks are added.
Update 4: Gun glued to the mantlet, I love it...
Update 5: Gun glued to the model, small details added.
Update 5: As the molding structure was too rough I sanded it again before adding details. Looks much better now.
Update 5: Added some damages caused by combat action.
Update 5: I don't like the back side yet, have to work on it again.
Update 5: Trumpys workable tracks; a damn sh**tload of work. And I figured out they don't fit onto the back wheels of the Zvezda kit. Have to rework a lot here.
Update 6: Working on the tracks, piece by piece they are glued together...
Update 6: Trumpy's track links are quite good to handle but it still is a s**t load of work.
Update 6: I build segments and stick them to the model, than add the next ones.
Update 6: Unfortunately the little splints fall out easily. I carefully apply glue to them, the tracks stay flexible.
Update 7: Tracks left side
Update 7: Tracks right side
Update 7: Spare tracks on the lower glacis
Update 7: Perhaps I'll add a tow here, have one left from the KV-1
Update 7: The beast top side
Update 7: The beast bottom side
Update 8: Further details added.
Update 8: Ready for painting!
Update 8: Primer and dark green added.
