Personal interest:
In retaliation for Iraq violating UN resolutions forbidding it from attacking citizens opposed to the Saddam Hussein regime, Operation Desert Strike was planned and executed. I provided the weather forecasts for the strike, which was in part carried out by US Navy cruisers and destroyers in the Persian Gulf. These ships fired 31 Tomahawks on Iraqi military infrastructure.
