Kitty Hawk On Stilts
These dang ejector pin marks will be a bear to remove.
This will be a little narrower so that it will fit nicely on a counter top. Should be 23” x 48” when done. Planning to build a case as well.
lots of detail painting for next weekend 8-| These are crazy nice models in themselves. Wait till i show the picture of the fire hose and nozzle. I have them separate and won’t add to the tug till I paint them. I still can’t believe i was able to assemble them!

Well after a week delay due to a couple seems showing up i have the aircraft carrier base all painted. Next up, the acrylic gel to create the waves.

Awesome Le’Arsenal parts
Made this fence myself with wire screen from a 60gage sieve for sifting stuff like flour when baking
Awesome Le’Arsenal parts!
What ended up taking all week was figuring out how to make the oval boat “fenders”.
After a couple failed ideas i landed on some beads that i could modify.

Then I used plastic wood putty to fill the gap. The toothpick has a purpose btw, these fenders have a rod thru them that the ropes loop thru so i’m planning to cut off the toothpick to make the rod end.
Then sand with a dremel 1st, 400 grit sanding stick, then 800 grit finish. The 2 lines ended up looking like they belonged there under primer compared to the mold lines on the real thing.
False bottom
Bondo
Glazing putty to smooth it oit
Hi-build primer!
Working on cleaning up the underside of flight deck since it will be 4” in the air and you’ll be able to see it.
Had a re-do here. This sponson didn’t sit flush with the deck. Off by 3mm at the outer edge. It just had to be fixed so i cut it loose and redid it with black CA.
How many of you have chain drilled with an 1/8” drill bit ? i have now
And after a bunch of work to line things up i cut the cord and drilled holes in the hangar bay deck and then the hull AND THEN marked the base for the linear motor holes

So here’s how it will fit up

Then let’s finish this out with another crazy add … i’ve started a foc’sle because the whole bow will be open and it was just going to be too barren ? just in-process but i think it’s looking good so far

So here’s the 3/16” bar i put under the flight deck. JB Weld to set the mounts for the linear motors. In a genius moment i cut 2 of the mounts too short! And JBWeld sags until it dries after a few hours so i had to make supports to keep everything lined up … oh god wait till you see this jury rigged setup
let’s start with one of those “i just can’t stop myself” moments. We should have a hi-lift for the docks! There’s a couple in the pics i have so i went ahead and scratched a few up ? the trumpeter set i have for deck equipment had a few cabs and i added some plastrut to them!
She’s on her stilts!

Let’s see if I can bring this idea to fruition…My plan is to use a couple linear actuators to lift the flight deck so the hangar bay can be seen clearly!
