Kit dates from 1982...
Engine and interior work...
Bit of minor drilling and gun cartridge exit hole cutting...
Gave some early stage weathering touches to engine bay.
I followed colour instruction for cockpit, then added some fun colour touches, just because!
Priming... To help see high point on seams etc.
Priming and some basic rescribing.
Further priming, sanding and rescribing...
Rescribing and adding a few new lines in too. Getting everso slightly more confident on each build about gouging plastic lines!
Added hardpoints and guns. Unfortunately athough detail is good for tyre tread, the tyres feature ridiculously positioned manufacturing points.
Underside is primed and rescribed where required - mainly fuselage join.
All primed prior to panel shade work.
Trying out a new technique for a panel line pre-shade. I'll likely obliterate most of this with another primer pass and then the blue!
Dulled back down with an overcoat of diluted white primer.
Few highlighted spots - we'll see if this works!
So the idea I'm going to try is to 'realistically' beat-up the airframe by trying to remove paint rather than add paint. We'll see...
Sorting out ludicrously manufactured wheels, smoothing bombs, adding hardpoints and general flatten out prior to the blue!
After several light passes...
Scratching the paintwork and adding chipping.
So in addition to some chipping and wear and tear... I've also highlighted all panel edges with a light grey wash prior to a recessed panel line dark blue or black wash, we'll see if my plan works or fails dismally!
Battering the underside a bit! It all looks a bit dark in this pic - lighter in daylight.

Loosely following the kit paint instructions...
Decals went down pretty flat for an ancient kit. The carrier film is much more opaque than the ESCI Skyraider I'm simultaneously building for this group build.
OK, so I've decided I'm going to try light grey highlights rather than darker lowlights for panel lines - all looks a bit too much currently! But progressive passes will dull back somewhat.
Artistic licence being used abundantly! Left side of pic shows lines becoming more defined and lighter.

SkyhikerThose tires should be able to be fixed with an Exacto blade, some super glue and some sanding. It's stupid to put pin marks there and they're a pain to correct but it can be done.

SkyhikerYour color touches to the control panel reminds me of early 1960's space fantasy films. I wonder if Captain Kirk could fly a Corsair?

NeilHi Roland 🙂 Thanks! I don't really know too much about these things: Tooling, plastic colour choice, kit manufacture, etc... But I'd guess it's maybe because my (older version kit) is an Academy/Minicraft and yours is an Academy, so for whatever (cost?) reason that would be a suggestion mate??
