Album info

An American soldier inspects an American Jeep cut in two by a mine.

Photo taken on August 4, 1944 in Lison on the road to Saint Sever.

References: page 121 of the book: Forgotten Paths of the Bocage by André Laroze, 2007

Several interesting details:

-On the ground, American pants.

-On the ground, a PM Thompson M1A1

-On the wing of the jeep a water jerrycan (recognizable when opened)

-On the right wing of the jeep part of the TQM 445??

-The star on the hood with an anti-gas paint (it changes color in the presence of gas)

-Jeep MB produced between August & September 43 according to its hood number

-Note the inscriptions under the windshield:

War shipping: dimensions and weights for sea transport

OW = overall width

NW = net weight (poids net)

-Marking for "PRESTONE 43" antifreeze on the front of the capo
