Still warming-up...

Album image #1
Gunze SM Chrome as primer. i know the real ac was mostly constructed out of wood and i have no intention of chipping etc - metallics just make a nice base for freehand camo in my experience as well as the nose section to be painted in red, also literally puts a sign on the issues with sanding & polishing, that's all.

kit is OOB.
nothing fancy about it, just to build the mojo and get things flowing. has a bit of fit issues but overall simple build, a nice kit.

Album image #2
tamiya flat red for the nose

gunze c117+c118 5:2 for the underside and tailtip

va model color london grey for the dark grey

next stop medium grey

paintjob is complete.
there were a couple of places where masking tape lifted some paint as well as overspray but luckily they weren't about red section.

as for the camo, not my finest work but still the kit served it's purpose.

next up gloss coat and decals.

Album image #4
tamiya gloss clear > decals and panel lines > vallejo satin varnish.

decals were good with very thin carrier film yet still strong enough. downside is they tend to curl easily.

another surprise was the carrier film could be rubbed with turpentine using napkin or a stiff enough brush. don't recall seeing this in modern kits recently, most welcome feature especially when it comes to stencils.

next shots will be from the finished build i guess - hopefully against a proper white background.

Nicely done mate 👍
I like the 2 tone grey camouflage and have the same kit (a later boxing) in the stash as well.

Guillaume and Simon thanks a lot guys.

James, just watch out for the radiator/wing to fuselage joint because unless it's very tight you'll have alignment issue with the nose section/engine covers later on. you'll see what i mean when you get there. problem is most likely flash but they are very fine and could go unnoticed easily coupled with the very tight tolerances of the parts. overall the fit is very nice, close to tamiya level.

this is if you opt to do a closed engine of course - if you decide to display it open then you'd be fine i guess.

also be careful with the main canopy as well, it's tight. hairdryer helps on a low setting to stretch it just a wee little bit before placing it immediately. there also is a single piece glazing if you chose a closed canopy but i didn't try it's fit.

cheers.
