Time for another Würger! The subject is the A-8 of Lt. Rudolf Linz, a 70 victory ace, who was shot down in this plane during the British raid on Norway on 9 February 1945.

I'm adding some details this time -- engine, fuselage guns, wing cannons, flaps, landing gear, and cockpit - using Brassin kits from Eduard. The plan is to display with most of the main covers open.

Here are some photos of the cockpit and engine. Most of the build is complete now and I'm using Mr. Color lacquers as usual for painting.

The main build and camo painting are now complete. Mr. Color lacquers were used. The flaps were quite a bit of work because of the amount of plastic removal required.

I spent quite a bit of time sorting out how to best install the resin wing cannon bays. In the end I glued the wing tops to the fuselage first. When that had dried, I positioned and used CA glue to attach the cannon bays to the wing root area. The fit was acceptable but was not obvious until the wing tops had been attached. The wing bottoms were then glued to the wing tops. I think this approach worked well.

Decals next. Thanks for looking.

Rudi Linz's Blue 4 is now complete.

The markings went on with no issues-- I used masks for the upper wing crosses and the kit decals for the rest of the markings and stencils.

I used oils for the panel line wash and am happy with the outcome. I also used oils for some additional shading on the RLM 75 and 74 areas to increase the contrast in a number of areas. Acrylic black-brown heavily thinned was used for additional shading and exhaust stains around select panel lines and wear areas.

Thanks for looking. Comments and critique are always welcome.

What color/method do you use for the wheatering around the gun-bays?? 🙂

Thanks mates for the warm comments. Much appreciated and I'm glad you like it.

@Niels - weathering around the gun bays was a combination of: (1) a highly thin black/brown acrylic mix airbrushed on the panel lines and edges of doors and covers, (2) oil paints - brownish colors - blended in around the wing walk areas near the wing roots, and (3) light brown, light green, tan and silver colored pencils for chips and scratches. Hope that helps.

Beautiful work Jim. Like how you left the fuselage gun cover off. It may be prototypical to have it flipped up onto the windscreen, but I always thought that arrangement just looked ugly.

Very good work, great paint finish. I like the model very much. The only point of criticism: the chassis, especially the wheels, I would age a bit, it looks too new.
My Fw 190 A-6 is presented here already built. One of the beautiful fighters of World War II
