Album info
Done in markings of Alfred Grislawski airraft, JG 50 based at Wiesbaden-Erbenheim. The unit was a commanded by Herman Graf and he hand picked pilots to fly in his unit, Grislawski being one of them. They were formed to combat the RAF Mosquito threat but were largely unsuccesful in this role. They also intercepted USAAF air raids and it was during these intercepts where Grislawski downed a couple of B-17 bombers. I believe he also downed a B-17 during the first Schweinfurt raid. I'm not sure if his Bf 109 was fitted with the underwing 20mm cannons. I hope it's historically correct that he did use them. Also I've left the aircraft semi-gloss as the unit did actually polish the aircraft in order to get a few more km/h out of their machines, whilst chasing the elusive Mosquitos. I'm also thinking that the wavy demarcation on the wings might be a bit inaccurate for a 1943 machine, but I only came to this realisation post decaling.
Note- Yes I forgot to paint the wintip lights, I might go back and finish them off.
