Nicely done kit and nice fishing rig! I wanted to put one of those on my real Navara (Frontier here in the States). I'll get to it one day...

Hi Nathan, try this. Nice and cheap but will last longer than your surf rod. google.com/search?cl..16821956393671733323

Well done Pete. NIcely painted, and the bullbar looks the part. I like the added carpet, fishing rod stuff and the antenna. Great job! 👍

Thanks Mick, I'll do a better job on scratching anything now, I have a better idea on how to go about it.

nice work on this one... some small faults that could be avoided, but all in all a descent model (but I've seen better from your part)

nope, that I didn't say.
The bumper is well made, but lacks the finesse to paint it chrome, a slight tad of sanding and filling would have made it pop. now you see some glue stains and places that needed filler. Paintjob is top, just a slight blemish at the rear of the passenger door, looks like cracking paint or something...Maybe nitpicking or the like, but I'm sure you wouldn't let these pass when building bikes...

That's what deadlines do, they make you go "I can't get it better right now, it'll have to do"
Throw a bit of dirt on it and call it used and dented 😉

No remember Peter said it was his sons first car, so of course she's gonna be a bit rough around the edges.;)

Nonetheless, great first attempt at totally scratchbuilding a part. 👍

Honestly, many lessons learned. The rough looking bar changed shape as I built it. Had absolutely NO idea what I was doing and was also experimenting with plastic welding as I went. There is plenty of putty there but I still struggle with application. No idea what happened behind the DRIVERS door, I thought a fingerprint at first but now I don't think so. What I was most happy with was the paint evenness and no orange peel. Kez has taught me that! So many car builds are let down by the bodywork paint. The interior is too shiny, I will research Alex G's builds to get to the bottom of that. I was a rush job, and Marty knows all about them, so I will hide behind that a little. But, the wonderful thing I have found with the hobby is whenever you jump from one genre to another a whole new skill set is required. More learning, more conversations with mates and more love of the hobby! Thanks for the comments gents, I might have a long way to go but I don't walk the path alone.

and more material becomes available. At our club we have car builders, plane builder, tanknuts etc... and some material is sold as for bikes and cars, but is equally handy in the other domains... just look further then the name for which it is sold...

And tools Bart, I could fill a mechanics toolbox with what I have here. Can't use any of it but it is fun learning.

I know what you mean about the skill set. I mainly build aircraft, but really wanted to build an Australian road train. I found that I was having to go MUCH slower, and eventually had to stop to do research on skills the car people probably do every on build... Also finding an Australian Flatbed trailer here in the States is impossible (much less two of them).

I'll build almost anything. I'm pretty good on some things, not so good in many more things. I'm a master of none. I do have fun most of the time.
I'll admire anyone with extraordinary skills (Bugsy, KC amongst others) and try to learn as much as possible, while still being stubborn old me 😉

I disagree Martin, you are not old!
Thanks Brad, got a pair of NS500 on the go atm too.
Nathan, I'll send you a link or two you might find of assistance in a PM.

The crowning glory on this little gem is Peters scratch built 'bull bar'.
Just so talented. 👍

I'd like to say the bar was fun to build but it wasn't. But, now I have an idea how to go about scratch building I think it will be enjoyable in future!

Calm down Greg, it won't be in 72 scale!!
It'll be fun Spanjaard AFTER I wipe the tears away!
Thanks for the encouragement Lode, let's just say I have opened the front cover of a very large book.

Your first car! Congratulations😉 it's a beauty.
Rocket launchers for fishing rods... Interesting.
I didn't think of rocket launchers, more like smoke grenade dischargers... 😛
Greg... 144th scale scratchbuilding? Insanity, but you do well at it 😄

I have a theory Rene, Greg is actually 90cm tall and very thin. Such a small scale is like 48 scale for the rest of us! Thanks for the wrap too, there will be more cars, one day!

I can confirm I am both twice that tall, no one would mistake me for "thin".😉

Album info
My son's first car was a soft top Suzuki Sierra / Jimny. It had a short life as it was written off by another party at a roundabout. But, it lives on in our memories! I have attempted this as my first car build and have gained a new respect for Alex G's painting skills!!! The bullbar and everything on it are totally scratch built. It's all a bit rough but hey! It's a four wheel drive! They aren't supposed to look new for long! 😉
