Hi guys - just glossing it up right now. I find that glossing is probably the toughest thing for me. I always get a 'satin' like finish instead of a smooth gloss. I have tried to use future; future with ammonia; future with windex; misting a finished coat with windex.... I think what I need to do is sand the gloss coat but I am too afraid to do it!

Don't be afraid, sand it with micromesh, then cotton (yes cotton) and remember: always in the same direction. Then apply the gloss varnish.

I tried the sanding - and it worked. I think next time I will sand each coat after I apply it. The decals went on with few issues - but I had to cut and align each number individually! That took a while. The wash is promodeler dark and the flat is model master acryl.

The advice Aghis gave is spot on, it's exactly how I do it as well, when I need. One thing I'd like to point out is, I know "Future" has been accepted as a trusted item, but test it out on scrap first. I've had some nasty reactions on some of my models and regardless of what some reviewers say, it does yellow with age on some Clears/Varnishes and in the bottle. Some of our models we make are expensive items. I'd hate to read nasty things here. Remember it was designed for use on floors not models...

Album info

This will be a F4U-5 in Argentine service. I really like the look of this one and the Aztec decals are excellent.
