Will start mounting parts on toothpicks for priming and main color.

Parts that could be glued to toothpicks have been mounted, I still need to figure out a way to mount the parts that are too small to mount on toothpicks. All chrome parts need to be de-chromed.

All remaining parts have been mounted for priming, they have been arranged by primary color. Will proceed with de chroming all chrome parts to mount them for painting. Have confirmed with my wife which parts she wants in the interior portion of the car for the tribute model.

All parts have been primed and all chrome parts are now soaking in alcohol.

I will check the chrome parts tonight to see if the chrome paint has come off. If it has, I will work on mounting the parts for priming

Chrome parts were soaking in alcohol but did not remove all of the chrome paint. I've put the parts in chlorine to completely remove the chrome paint. I also bought the paint for the body, my wife chose rustoleum sunrise red, need to sand the primer coat smooth

All chrome parts have had the chrome completely removed, will mount all the parts tonight.

All parts are now mounted, will proceed with applying the chrome backer. Will also start sanding the primer on the body and its components to begin the painting phase.

Started painting the engine parts

Body, hood, and deck lid have been painted with a third coat of Rustoleum Sunrise Red. The paint is surprisingly thin for being a rattle can, I started sanding the model last night and I almost sanded to the primer coat. Will probably add another coat tonight just to be safe when sanding the model.

Body, hood, and deck lid were recoated with a second coat of paint. All parts have been primed, engine parts have been painted, will start assembly today. Need pictures of real car to determine which parts will be painted differently from the instructions.

Engine assembly is completed, I was not satisfied with the paint job on the underside of the car, I am stripping the paint and painting it again. I finally got the pictures of the real car and identified which pieces need to be painted the body color. I only need the pictures for the inside of the car to match the interior.

I finally received the interior pictures of the car, now I know which parts to paint to match the original car. Will start priming these parts in order to paint them either the body color or the matching color.

Parts have been primed, will paint the parts tomorrow

All body component pending being painted have had their first coat of paint applied. I have purchased the grey paint for the interior, will work on it tonight. Also, I might have to purchase more alcohol, the container with alcohol I have is struggling to remove the paint from the chassis of the car.

Second coat of painting has been applied. I stripped the paint from the chassis as best I could, I think I will just call it complete and move on. I'll prime the chassis today in order to move on with painting it. I just need to be careful with the paint as I noticed the paint is hot and burned the plastic in the chassis.
Seats, and doors have been painted gray, I only need to mask the door frames in order to match them to the actual car.

Third and final coat of painting has been applied to the pending parts. The chassis has been primed and first layer of flat black sprayed. Seats have been painted and completed. Side doors have been masked to start the detailing.

Chassis has been completed with suspension and engine mounted. Doors have been painted only pending finishing details. Primed wheel rims and interior details.

Finishing details on doors have been completed. Chose the wheel rim color to use, but before painting them, I will try applying a dull coat of clear to the test spoon with the metallic aluminum color to see how it looks. Right now as it looks on the test spoon, it looks a bit too shiny. Will finish assembling the interior today.
Will begin with wet sanding the body and components today as well.

Interior and wheels have been completed and mounted on the chassis. I had to strip the body entirely as I mistakenly grabbed the white spray can instead of the clear spray can and ended up ruining the body. I am going to have to start the entire process again. Luckily, the hood and engine cover were not ruined and are now finished. I have painted the trim of the windows black.

The entire body was stripped to bare plastic, has been primed, and is now painted. Waiting on paint to fully dry in order to start sanding away the orange peel in order to proceed with the clear coat and polishing compounds.

Paint job has a little bit of orange peel, I need to decide whether to leave like that or apply another coat of paint to the body. If I sand as is, I will sand through to the primer

Body was polished not sanded and that removed the orange peel that it has. All remaining pieces were glued and the car has been completed. Finished 07/24/2022
