I simply admire your models, and this one is no exception, Elias. All the effort was worth the final effect (it is a pity that this beautifully rendered engine can be only partially exposed, nevertheless...). Fantastic work!

Ι wonder If the shape of this plane, could be described as ' art-deco' .. Who knows?

The difference between stark white and cream is a big one. You went to great lengths to get things exactly right. Definitely a bit of Art Deco in this and many other aircraft of the era.

Magnificent work on a very special, beloved subject - a great tribute to Saint-Ex! Congrats! 👍 👍

I am also an avid fan of Saint-Ex, but maybe he was a better writer than pilot.

Needing 3 men to put you into the cockpit because you are way overweight, is not a great sign of airworthiness...

What a beautiful model, a real joy to look at. Even more so, taking into consideration all the extra effort like PE masks 👍

Hi Elias, it's a beauty, indeed ! And I appreciate the level of detailing and corrections. I'm finishing a DW Percival Vega Gull, and so I know what it means in terms of work. From the online reviews, the quality of their kits is increasing. But yes, they do tend to have a one-mild-fits-them-all policy with mutiple re-boxings that are all a bit off.
The cream-colored codes are a must, so in the minset of the 30's, when these aircrafts were crafted one by one.
My onlysuggestion would be to find a pilot or mechanic figure to set next to your jewel. But there not easy to find outside of the main war topics...

Many thanks for your comments Boris. I 'm really bad with figure painting 🙂

To come across that one was really a joy as I want to build it in scale 1:72 too. If only I could find the old Heller kit. You Claudron is simply beautiful and I agree that the extra effort with the stencils was really worth it. Which color did you use for the interior?

For the interior I used Mr color C72 intermidiate blue. The preserved caudron C.635 in the museum and all model instructions suggest for a dark brick red color. But, several photos of F-ANRY clearly show a light color for the interior, I decided to use a light blue.

Album info

Dora wings produces subjects some of us modelers were dreaming of for decades. They are short run molds, complex/difficult to built, but highly detailed and accurate in shape.
The Simoun kit it is supposed to represent the 630 version, but as Dora probably plans to release the 631/635 also, some small details are of the 635. Research for documentation is necessary if you want to be 100% accurate. Most 630's were later converted to 635's, you may find the same aircraft appearing in photos as 630 or 635 later.
Saint Exupéry's 630 had a brief flying career, it was definitely a 630 with no modifications except those required for the record flights. Dora provides a standard cabin with 3 seats so I converted it with adding a scratchbuilt auxiliary fuel tank and a box containing the required supplies.
The top of the aircraft was painted in a cream colour and it looks that the registration was the same. Unforunatelly dora decals are white and the end result will look bad for my taste, so I designed custom masks to be cut by a commercial plotter machine. The tail logos were a special problem as they are very small to be cut on a masking sheet. They were custom produced as photo etched in thin metal and used as masks. All that cost some more, but I think it is worth it.
