Bad fit of the Wings ? Did Airfix subcontract this kit to Amodel, Lukasz???
4. January, 12:51
Jan Peters
The fit of the wings is quite bad indeed, the nacelles are even worse.... Keep fiddling about, cutting and filing, in the end it will fit. Make sure to remove all knock out marks and trim the ribs on the lower wing, it improves the overall fit.
4. January, 13:03
Łukasz Gliński
@Jan: Damn, too late 😄 Will have to work on nacelles and wingtips then...
@Erik: The kit nit, but the wings, who knows?😉

Daniel Klink
Quick progress here wow!
Oops already larnt and this time prepared for struggling moments,
Keep it up Lukasz 👍
4. January, 20:55
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks, it's quick indeed - seems I'll have to wait for the mask delivery because of that 😄
4. January, 20:57
Stefan Schacht
nice start, count me in
4. January, 20:58
Daniel Klink
@Jan also it appears to me after checking the sprues and parts that the plasticmaterial is somewaht soft and not what i would call crisp. Can you second that mates?
4. January, 21:04
Łukasz Gliński
Can't call it soft, but I'm used to the Amodel, DDR, CSSR and Peoples Republic of Poland products 😄
Stefan, always good to have you on board 👍
4. January, 21:11
Daniel Klink
Hm, between Amodel and a Model there could lie galaxies.
Now i will see sooner or later 🙂
4. January, 21:33
Jan Peters
Plastic is soft indeed, yet easy to work with. Lukasz, check the stabalizer, I think you have it upside down, ie on the wrong side .
4. January, 21:51
Łukasz Gliński
Well, I glued them according to the instructions. The only distinct element (balance? hinge?) is on top of the right stabilizer. All the other 3 surfaces look exactly the same. I hope this is ok.
5. January, 10:56
Jan Peters
You are right, my bad. Fit on mine was acually surprisingly good.
5. January, 11:30
Cuajete
I thought I was inside of this build, but I was missing it. This kit does not appear to fit well in some areas, as seen here and other builds.
Following.

Great one👍, watching. It is great inspiration for me, I´ve got also one in my stash and planning to do it soon.
6. January, 19:16
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks mates. Yes, Cuajete, the kit seems to be really nice but it gets nasty in few places. So far I find the engine nacelles to be the worst part of it.
6. January, 19:37
Jan Peters
It isn't a walk in the park, that's for sure :)
6. January, 20:19
Łukasz Gliński
I know. Got the undersides sprayed and they look good, now time for the upper part of the nacelles 🙂
6. January, 20:41
8. January, 18:26
Jan Peters
Looking forward to see it painted
10. January, 21:27
Łukasz Gliński
Masks have arrived, so I plan to start spraying soon 🙂
11. January, 08:26
Cuajete
Looking good 👍.
11. January, 09:39
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks, sprayed the blue undersides today. I'm not good at preshading, but I did my best here.
Now, need to gather some courage and clean the airbrush to proceed with mottling.
16. January, 20:24
Jan Peters
Go for it Lukasz!
17. January, 09:14
Cuajete
Looks very nice and clean, Łukasz!
17. January, 10:08
David Januska
So I´d like to be also not so good in preshading ;). Nice job so far, no worries.
17. January, 10:44
Alec K
Looks pretty good to me 👍
18. January, 03:26
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks, remember the nacelle-wing joints are mainly containing Bondic glue😉
18. January, 08:28
Łukasz Gliński
Started my 1st ever mottling attempt and well, I'm not very proud to say the least.
Seems my H&S Ultra nozzle has deformed already and is spitting around 🙁
Not sure what to do next, there are few options:
- fetch the new nozzle, so it holds tight the needle,
- play more with RLM76 too,
- wait for new airbrush planned for March,
- go for Juergen's putty "camo" (most tempting),
- go for the Czech one :o
19. January, 21:32
Jan Peters
It does not look bad from here Lukasz. Go over the areas you do not like with some 76 and do some backwards mottling, that is how I usually do mine as well.
20. January, 17:00
Łukasz Gliński
Damn, masked the engines based on A-2a version photo, the '711' A-1a had them in NMF too.
26. January, 15:08
Greg Baker
Looks good to me as well. It catches the eye.
26. January, 15:36
Juergen Klinglhuber
good progress on repaint.... 👍
31. January, 09:54
Jan Peters
Looks good Lukasz
31. January, 11:24
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks, struggling with NMF masking currently, that's the main con of the NMF😉
31. January, 15:18
Patryk S.
Very good result with the NMF Łukasz!
31. January, 19:06
Cuajete
Looks good, Łukasz! 👍
31. January, 21:15
Greg Baker
I think I can see my reflection in it...
1. February, 03:43
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks, it's nice due to the Gunze SM paints usage, they are really nice (as Greg pointed out😉 )
1. February, 09:03
Roland Gunslinger
Mirror, mirror on the schwalbe ... 👍
27. February, 10:34
Łukasz Gliński
Temporarily, it's going to be matt afterwards😉
27. February, 13:09
Juergen Klinglhuber
Your metal finish turned out good - I was curious how your paint experience will be as I'm going for the putty camo as well. I have a slower build speed but ready for painting since yesterday....
27. February, 16:22
Łukasz Gliński
Looks like I'm going to be the trailblazer😉
27. February, 18:30
Gary Kitchen
Lukasz that's one fabulous treatment! I'd be tempted to stop at pic 17 and decal up, turning it into 'pimp my ride' type thing. The Luftwaffe does MTV (money for nothing and [schwalbe] chicks for free) 🙂
27. February, 20:18
Łukasz Gliński
Thx Gary, Dire Straits has a spot soft in my heart too 🙂
So, I attempted to seal the metal, but must have been too generous probably and the green started to pop up here and there.
I'm going to respray the parts, but was strongly tempted to park it under a tree 😄 I wonder if I would have tried it intentionally, I'd never get such a nice effect 😄
Now I know how to paint the famous derelict Albanian jets 😄
27. February, 21:17
Daniel Klink
Clean work and great progress Mate 👍
27. February, 21:46
Cuajete
Nice metallized!
1. March, 19:07
Jan Peters
Very nice bm effect
1. March, 20:53
Jim J
It's cool to see the metal on a Schwalbe. Excellent.
2. March, 00:05
Jan Peters
Regarding the colour for the putty, I'd use two of the medium greys, so you have some colour variation. Also, the airleons and such would be delivered to the factory in light grey or RLM 76.
14. March, 12:45
Julian Herrero aka Yuri
Good work , like it
14. March, 15:46
Łukasz Gliński
Started "puttying" today. Are you sure Jan regarding the ailerons colour?
14. March, 15:48
Jan Peters
Yes, I am sure. That is what I found as I did my 262 with puttied wings
14. March, 17:02
Łukasz Gliński
So as spraying is done, I'm gonna get some Pactra/Vallejo RLM76 then 🙂
Do you mean the tail too?
14. March, 17:14
Greg Baker
Oh my... looking good!
15. March, 06:08
Jan Peters
I've made some pictures from the study in japo's book on the 262s in Czech RepublicDingen | Album by Jan Peters
15. March, 08:34
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks for the pics, however it's too late to respray all the panels the way your reference materials specify. I'm gonna try to include as much as I can.
In the meantime I found out Humbrol 106 to be too bright. Considering mixing it with Humbrol 96 I have.
15. March, 09:35
Jan Peters
I should have come forward earlier with these, sorry mate
15. March, 11:55
Łukasz Gliński
So, puttying mostly done, I may wash it with grey panel liner to get some subtle shading here and there (where the panel lines are too deep).
Next: varnishing and decalling.
2. April, 21:12
Jan Peters
Looking very good Lukasz!

This kit is sitting on my shelf as part of an idea for Luft'46 project. I really like the metal finish. Going to study this build carefully as a template for my future build. Very nice! Like 🙂
2. April, 22:07
Daniel Klink
Bling, bling..very promising and convincing progress mate 👍
2. April, 23:11
Juergen Klinglhuber
looking good !
3. April, 15:22
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks a lot.
Decalled the kit today - the top wing crosses might be bit too big, but it's too late anyway - at least the fuselage ones are cut and placed according to the reference pics.
What's left? Some varnishing, wheels, wheel covers and rigging.
@Rui: there at least 2 known metal Schwalbes - A-1a (s/n 111711) & A-2a (s/n 111712), the former being the most famous one, as it made it across the pond and flew there too.
3. April, 20:18
JOHN THOMAS
Nice paint work
4. April, 13:21
Sebastian Meyner
Fantastic finish mate 👍
4. April, 13:29

Sorry Lukasz...damn autocorrect. 🙂
5. April, 19:27
Łukasz Gliński
Many thanks to all of you mates 🙂 Very much appreciated.
@Gary: I don't really mind, used to being called by multiple names by foreigners 😄
5. April, 19:32
Alec K
Looks great 👍
6. April, 01:06
Greg Baker
If you're gonna autocorrect, it should at least be Wukas.😉
6. April, 04:54
Łukasz Gliński
Diky Alec!
Greg, years ago I saw someone created 'Woockash' spelling to make some foreigners understand😉
6. April, 07:41
Cuajete
Well done, Łukasz! (copy & paste name 😛)
I especially like pic 48.
Congrats!
6. April, 17:56
Łukasz Gliński
Gracias 🙂
6. April, 19:34
Juergen Klinglhuber
Well done Łukasz !! It looks great!
At the end we will have quite a bunch of new bare metal Me262's on our shelfs after this group build has ended. 👍
6. April, 20:23
Rui Da Silva
I also like pic 48; add a bit of film grain and it could be really convincing :)
6. April, 22:47
Greg Baker
Great Łurk Woockash... haha! 🙂
7. April, 05:59
Gary Kitchen
😄 no way that's an innocent autocorrect like mine 😄
7. April, 06:32
Łukasz Gliński
Some say "Vox populi, vox dei", so enjoy the new pic 🙂
Thank you all, you made my morning today, before I had to start my łurk 😄
@Juergen: I certainly hope so, looking forward to seeing more interpretations of this 'camo'
