Über mich

I finally found my favourite hobby in Covid times - scale modeling! (which maybe saved me from getting mad while being isolated at home). I played around with some Revell models during childhood, but never again tried modeling until 2021. I like it because it combines crafting and art, which I find relaxing and satisfying. Modeling also allows me to listen to music without disturbing anyone else. After I littered every room in our house, my wife finally sent me into the cellar where I was allowed to build my own man cave with everything a modeler needs.

I like building WWII or sometimes modern armor and aircraft in scale 1/16 and 1/35 respectively 1/32. Usually german or U.S. armored vehicles, but not restricted to these. I have some preferred manufacturers like Takom, Trumpeter / Hobbyboss, Dragon or other asian quality producers like Meng and Rye Field Models. I started airbrushing and was very exited about the results. I also changed from enamel to acrylic paints, which reduced the strong smell in our house 😉 I´m usually using Tamiya paints and glue, A.Mig washes, filters, oil brushers and drybrush colours, Vallejo pigments and Mr. Hobby / Mr. SuperClear varnish.

I´m still trying to improve my modelling skills by watching other modeler's videos, reading magazines and trying to learn from what I see or read. Scalemates is a great data base and treasure for every modeller. I also like to exchange thoughts and tips & tricks with other mates. Sometimes I am doing contract works. Feel free to contact me!
