First step is to shorten the neck - starting with separating the conical bottom section from the centre framework

The very bottom section also needed to be modified to allow the cut centre framework to drop in lower

The grey backing parts for the centre framework were also cut down

The hollow bottom of the grey backing part (which would have been covered by the conical bottom part) has been filled with Apoxie Sculpt and sanded flat

Head put together with new neck - the very bottom disc is still a bit tall and will need to be sanded down

Sanding process for the bottom discis underway - some 0.75mm masking tape is being used as a guide to keep everything straight

U9-C4 also has an extra projector on the top of his dome - made by drilling a hole and inserting a section of brass tubing, with another piece of styrene rod inserted into the tube

Album info

A model of U9-C4, one of the droids of D-Squad as seen in four episodes of Season 5 of the animated Clone Wars. U9-C4 is an R5 series droid but with differences to the head shape compared to R5-D4 seen in the original movie and The Mandalorian. This model has been built by modifying the R5 part of the Bandai R2-D2/R5-D4 kit.
