Watch the Birdy-Dog
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/6/2/1/1446621-36121-78-720.jpg)
Interior sexed up with some placards, piping, padding and belts.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/6/2/2/1446622-36121-17-720.jpg)
Engine was tricky to place and involved breaking a mounting tube, but it’s better aligned for it. Kit has many misalignment issues.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/6/1/9/1448619-36121-67-720.jpg)
Ceiling complete- PVA glue for transparencies.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/6/2/0/1448620-36121-85-720.jpg)
Tricky positioning for all glazing. Much dry testing and use of persuasive techniques
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/3/0/5/1512305-36121-47-720.jpg)
Pretty much assembled-just primed with Mr Surfacer 1000 50-50 with cellulose thinners. Gone down well- a new technique for me.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/3/0/4/1512304-36121-34-720.jpg)
After this a little black pre-shade
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/3/0/6/1512306-36121-41-720.png)
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/5/5/7/1514557-36121-95-720.jpg)
Let’s see if we can pull this off: metaphorically and physically!….. I chose this method as I thought the scale would benefit from it.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/5/5/8/1514558-36121-10-720.jpg)
Saved for the over fill once all colours are down.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/8/5/5/1514855-36121-29-720.jpg)
All masks in place
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/8/5/6/1514856-36121-54-720.jpg)
It was a tricky operation to do it this way, I guess I could’ve sprayed the black against the grey, but decided the other way ‘round
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/8/5/7/1514857-36121-68-720.jpg)
ADC grey, up next…,,
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/3/1/8/1515318-36121-67-720.jpg)
ADC grey from AK Air was gloopy and needed thinning 50/50 with Vallejo’s airbrush thinner. Taken several coats to blend everything in
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/3/1/9/1515319-36121-69-720.jpg)
Rockets and wheels also done ready for some details to be picked out
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/3/7/9/1515379-36121-20-720.jpg)
The gamble seems to have paid off- those vinyl and kabuki masks did their trick.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/3/7/8/1515378-36121-97-720.jpg)
Decals?…who needs ‘em?…
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/8/3/5/1515835-36121-90-720.jpg)
noting the configuration of rockets/launchers and associated piping. Will try and emulate.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/0/6/5/1523065-36121-38-720.jpg)
On short finals now. Some touching up and a light weathering should do it.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/0/6/6/1523066-36121-92-720.jpg)
The doors and windows were tricky to close at this later stage and look good in scale. As I’d spent some time on the interior I wanted to open the door a fraction and allow the view inside
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/0/6/4/1523064-36121-83-720.jpg)
Pleased my client wanted to have the rockets put on. A little scratch building for the detonation wires makes for a Bird Dog with teeth
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/6/2/7/1527627-36121-64-720.jpg)
Passing the outer marker…a light weathering and we’re good for delivery to my client- pilot friend.

Just the lightest of weathering touches around the wheels and lower fuselage areas

Robert, you are Mr. Motivator on here!! always enjoy you turning up at my builds!
bughunter: to have a kind comment from a "Master"- nay Wizzard, such as you is a pleasure. We're all stretching our skills sets on here, I guess, on every build we do.

You're doing a great job. 👍 I know from my own experience that large scales (1:32, 1:24 ...) do not forgive mistakes. I am very curious to see the finished model. I'm sure it will be a beauty.

Thanks Ludvík, I'm hoping my patreon will enjoy it too. There are a few mistakes, sure, but I'll try and hide them with some weathering.

Aww, thanks Robert...it will be equally impressive in 72nd...seem to remember building the Airfix one in c. 1976...and Guy: back at'cha! you're doing some pretty sterling work at the moment...Neil: I learned your lesson regarding the superglue application from your Panther...employed on this build...and thanks for having a look too!

I liked what you did with the masks during the build, but with all the final additions it's even better 👍

@bughunter - they were tricky and a reasonably new technique for me… and worthy of these larger scales. I hope to perfect them - similar to those on your builds..you're quite an inspiration!

Thanks Rui, David and Michael- not a scale or model brand I'm used to. Think it worked well in the end, and I managed to try some new techniques.
