Mountain Rescue Alouette III

Album image #1
Pieces of Hellers kit in a very strange light - almost transparent - blue, Brenguns PE set and some Whirly Bird bits destined for the interior.

Album image #2
Parts for the engine.

Album image #3
The Whirly Bird skis assembled and soldered.

Album image #4
That Whirly Bird piece looked way too coarse.

Album image #5
The tail guard was replaced by one made from brass wire as I didn't like neither the plastic nor the PE one.

Album image #6
Further details of the rotor head. Even at Brenguns PE set important pieces are missing. My spare box provided them.

Album image #7
Album image #8
Lets put some color on. Quite happy with the blue-grey I was looking for.

Album image #9
Interior is black all over

Album image #10
Album image #11
The first steps to color the engine.

Album image #12
I found the kits main gear too coarse and its detail too soft. So I decided to build it anew.

Album image #13
Not sure yet whether to use the sitting...

Album image #14
... or the kneeing guy.

Album image #15
So let's paint them both. I used brown instead of black as base.

Album image #16
After the highlights the orange looked too pale (left figure) so that I gave the guys a wash/filter with highly diluted red (right guy).

Album image #17
Hm. Somehow the pics do not show the effort that went into those figures. But that will have to do and they will populate the cockpit soon.

Album image #18
Started to build a little diorama for the chopper. It will land on a glacier with a crevasse. A box was build from Balsa wood.

Album image #19
Filling for the box

Album image #20
Next step will be to cut the crevasse into it.

Welcome on board Alex, Schivko, Marius and David.
Yeah Marius, there are a lot of delicate outside details that will make handling this bugger quite a challenge.

Lovely detailing so far Michael. These little helos are so delicate but satisfying in the end, and who doesn't love an Alouette?

Thanks Gary for your motivating comment. And yes, it is hard not to like an Alouette. I am still very eager to get my hands on an Extratech Alouette II in scale 1:72. But for now the Alouette III is king. 🙂.

Grand progress. And always good to learn another German 150-letter-vocabulary 😋

It can always be straight outside hanging on the rope. [img1]

Lukasz, I was wondering which word you were referring to, but I think it is "Maschinenschraubstock", isn´t it? I would even call it a "Minimaschinenschraubstock", or "Minimaschinenschraubstöckchen". Anyway, you can never have enough german 150-letter-words. 😉

Thank you guys for your interest. The build is a bit on hold as I would like to finish two or maybe even three other works for Moson. Stay tuned.

The PJ Production figures are not the hottest thing under the sun but for a heli crew they are about the only option. Finally I finished them even if I am not very satisfied with the result. Next step will be to tweak all the controls into their hands.
