Sitting down for this one as well

Deflashed and puttied all four bodies. The 2+2 kit tail panel/bumper has the incorrect larger Bonneville tail lights. The new Bonneville has a custom version tail panel without the bumper that have more appropriately sized tail lights. Whittled them both in an attempt to marry them together.

Made some progress this weekend. Deflashed/deburred the chassis and engine bit. Fine tuned to fit of the correct tail panel to the body and the cut down bumper. Did some emblem artwork and test prints of them in the computer.

Sorted and selected all my engine parts. Dechromed the parts that needed cleaned. Mounted all the parts to hopefully paint this weekend.

Get that 8.6:1 compression ratio stuff out of here. 😂. Pretty solid engine lineup though

I got the custom tail panel and the factory bumper spiced together. My protective tape peeled the chrome. I have it soaking in bleach in preparation to rechrome it.

Foiled scripts and emblems prior to paint. Body primered. Re-revealed said emblems and scripts. Going to be painted metallic black.

Merged rear bumper and tail panel dechromed.
Too long tail light lenses cut shorter and modified for illusion of divider(s)
Body in paint. Testors bottle enamel Metallic Black.
It was not quite as dark as I wanted, but It will do.

Scrounged up a bunch of shifters for the consoles. I am going all 4-speeds. A stick shift in in automatic console plate is just wrong. Fabricated shifter boots and am going to use curved straight pins as shifters. Took all afternoon to sand the little bits.

Sprayed the modified rear tail panel and bumper chrome today. I like how nice it turned out.

Love the chrome bumpers. What chrome solution do you happen to use? I bought AK Super Chrome 60ml bottle, $23, and a Mototow 5mm wide Chrome paint marker, wow what for 35 bucks lol.

Jarrett, I used Green Stuff World chrome based on a YouTube review by Barbatos Rex a few months ago. I used a 0.5 mm needle and shot a gloss black spoon. It did not like heavy spray. Unded up with orange peel on the spoon. Kept air pressure at 20 psi but throttled the paint way back with the airbrush limiter. Multiple light passes let me fill in the grille without getting too heavy on the ridges. Laid down pretty nice. Not as shiny as kit chrome but nobody's is (yet).

It actually looks better in person than it does in the pic.

It looks like a nice, scale appropriate chrome in the photos. Appreciate you sharing the technique.

i hope, you didn't loose control about all scratch build parts in the different builds :-D .
nice work on both 😉

Jarrett, Thanks, I am looking forward to how they turn out as well.
Kyle, You are welcome,
Dominik, I hope not to. I am doing it to expand my skillset but still have the desire to see the finished product. Thank you for the compliment.

With 3 of the 4 consoles done, I started on the dashboards for the three 65s in my batch builds. Fortunately, the new 65 Bonneville kit comes with 3 sets of decals for the dash. If I don't mess any of them up, I can utilize all 3 sets. I carved out the back of the dash behind the speedometer, to permit using the decal(s) as-is on the backing paper.

Finally got the dash done on the 2+2. Used panel liner to get the black background on the dash. I took about a dozen applications over weeks to get it to fill in properly. Used the same technique as the Bonneville for the window crank handles. 3 down 1 to go.

Thank you, Christian, Kyle, Frank, Bob and Nigel. The 3 interiors have gotten WAY more effort than I generally invest. I am glad someone is seeing them before they hide away.

After deciding to go modern on the wheel choice, the open spokes begged for disc brakes. I got some Pegasus ones that are compatible with their wheels. Since I am actually using the metal rear axle which allows the tires to rotate, I did not like the calipers going round and round with them. I used the extra lowering hole in the chassis to add a second axle pin. With 1/8" tubes glued to the discs, the tires can rotate while the calipers stay put. Yes, I know the discs do not rotate but, they are not separate from the calipers.

Fantastic piece of work, sir! I have to mention 2 things. #1: As per your photo #6, why was I dumb enough to pay 20 bux for a Mr. Hobby corrugated box to hold parts when you made one for, I'm guessing, a lot cheaper? Color me stoopid!! #2: You went the extra to make sure the calipers don't move while the wheels rotate. That's a great idea, well executed, but I am on the opposite side of that street. I make sure my wheels DON'T rotate. I have this fear of models rolling off the shelf for whatever reason and I can't stand the thought of my 110 piece model laying on the floor in 135 pieces!

Nice work Bill. That's a very cool idea.

Not just one build with some innovative ideas
Very cool

Mike, Thank you. Yes I did make the corrugated skewer holder box for free. I get lots of Amazon boxes around here. I rarely have wheels that roll for the exact reason you mentioned.
Thanks Kyle and Jv. 🙂

The last of my 4 Big Girls builds. A 1965 Pontiac 2+2 with a 376HP 421 Tri-Power and a 4-speed. This one was painted in Testors Metallic Black. Since she is a "Bad" girl, She wears the equivalent of high heels in the car world.

Comments welcome.

And a wonderful conclusion to your Big Girls series. One more excellent color choice. And I like the wheels too. I really enjoyed following along with these builds. Great job
