The plan was to use a driver and officer in the Ferret. Things didn’t quite go to plan but I think it all turned out Okay in the end

I primed in black because this is how silver goes on best!

My previous experiences of airbrushing white have been disastrous and not having a can to hand I thought I’d try something different … spraying over silver which for some reason covers really well.

The result of spraying white over silver was amazing. The best finish I’ve ever got and the look to me is so much more realistic than even when using a rattle can!

The finished kit before fitting the metal plates to the front. I left these off until the very last minute to enjoy the detail of the tools later to be hidden away.

Finally, I added a little vignette with a couple of figures (the driver with map and officer with cigar) and a palm tree.

I like this and a superb theme. I'm about to start a UN land-rover. Can I as which white you used. I've had some catastrophic results in the past.

Dave … excellent question. For the first time ever, I tried spraying white over silver having previously applied a black primer. I've never been able to spray white successfully before, but over silver I found the white settled really well and the slightly metal feel to the finish, to me anyway, looked more realistic than any previous attempt at painting with white. Also, any missed silver becomes a nice bit of shade and any missed white becomes a naturally weathered area. Try it!
