The Demon came with a massively underrated 340 engine that in stock form was close to 320 horsepower. Chrysler was in the habit of underrating engines to fool both the insurance companies and the NHRA an organization that sanctioned drag racing events. The transmission was the mighty 727 Torque Flight, the best automatic drag racing transmission available. In 1973 the Demon became the Dart Sport but was little changed.
I love this kit, the new tooling looks great. I’m happy to see the model companies reviving the classic muscle cars especially under served models. There was very little flash anywhere to be found and detail is sharp. The 71/72 Demons are twins accepted for the front grill and those are available. MPC did a great job on this one. Here’s to hoping for more mighty Mopars coming out of MPC.

MPC gets bashed a lot but this is a great kit; simple but everything goes so well together it’s like putting together a snap-kit. The only problem is that it’s missing the grill so I’m contacting the company to get a replacement.

Round 2 officially unveiled this kit this month and said it was an entirely new tool. Their marketing manager said the original tool was lost or damaged. The kit parts are very similar to the original, but have been upgraded somewhat to modern standards. At least the box art is also new this time.

According to the Round2/MPC website this is an entirely new tool: round2corp.com/new-tooling/#MK
Round2 has adopted the habit of creating brand new and improved tools of worn out old tools. Unfortunately (IMO) they also like to put the original box art on the new release making it very confusing to differentiate the old and new tools.

Some people are going to buy something way older than they were expecting…

Na, Round 2 has a knack for changing it up just enough to notice it a new issue, plus old kits don't have the UPC codes and parts list on the box.
