Thank you for the kind comments! I am planning to build both kits with removable cowling panels so the engine bay and armament can be seen, with the more detailed Eduard/Special Hobby kit receiving additional detailing, such as oil and coolant lines, control cables, etc. The Airfix kit is indended as a gift for a friend of mine.

Thank you all for the great comments! Apologies for the glacial pace of this build, I hope you don't lose patience, but I've been having a hard time finding free time lately.

@MichaelJonker bot kits are very good but they are products of different design philosophies.

The Airfix kit is a bit more simplified, some details (such as panel lines) is exaggerated for the scale. The Special Hobby/Eduard one has amazing detail that is scale accurate but is so fine that I dread the moment when I'll have to prime it. One stroke of a sanding stick or a tad thicker layer of paint and the fine panel lines or rivets are gone.

It is a different approach between a scale representation of detail vs scale accurate detail, I think. Both are great but I feel the Airfix kit is more easily approachable and better for beginner modelers. The Special Hobby/Eduard one is likely more truer how the 109 should look scaled down 72 times and does assemble like a dream but it is an involved build that requires some planning and experience.

Front windscreen sprue also broken on mine leaving a nice half-circle gap in the screen. Why would they put a mould injection point there?
