Not all Airfix kits are equal ! 😄
But what a difference a bit of PE makes, I've only just realised that its 1:72, I thought it was 1:48

Thanks mates! So far I haven't done so much buildin' with the kit so I can tell if the fit of the parts is ok or not but the fuselage lines up with a perfect fit between the halves. The only thing I don't like with the kit is the soft plastic that Airfix uses.

and I wish they could make decent clear parts too, the one on my 1:48 Spit is awful, lenses like a jam jar !!

Looks good, Urban. The photo-etch really adds a lot. I will follow.

Semms like a kit that almost builds itself.

Excellent work, mate! I like the new tool Airfix Zero kit, my experience was the same as yours. Fits well, and looks the part. Now that I see what you're doing here, I wish I had gone for some PE on mine - next time!

Hey Urban, which markings will you use from the Techmod sheet, Japanese or Chinese captured bird?
7 September 2014, 14:46
Urban Gardini
I just looked at your build again n' it's lovely!
7 September 2014, 14:52
Urban Gardini
I'm going with the AVG markings on this one as I think that they really stand out from all the rest of the Zeros but I'll build another later on with the Japanese scheme as that also is odd due to the camouflage on it.

Awesome work! The thing (I think) what we all hate about the pre painted PE parts, it's hard to match paint for it and it will look different anyway.. btw, what putty do you use? Looks like a Dissolved Putty....?
7 September 2014, 14:58
Urban Gardini
Thanks mate! I don't like the paint hues that Eduard use on their PE as it's a bugger to match it but this time around I didn't care as I'm gonna build it with a closed canopy. The putty is Tamiya's Basic White.

After a long absense from my desk due to my pains I've finaly been able to do a little again on the bird on thursday and friday. But nothing today due to neck pains again. But here goes with seven new photos of my bird.

Still there mate! I'm in the process now with gettin' the Tramadol slowly out of my system n' replacing it with Gabapentin. The process will take some time as it's unadvisable to quit the Tramadol right off.
29 October 2014, 12:32
Holger Kranich
Tramadol und Propophol, macht die Birne ziemlich hohl! (Tramadol and propophol makes you stupid and dumb. In german it sounds better...)
Old german medical phrase LOL!
And you are right, its not good to stop using Tramadol right off or you´ll get a phucking turkey!

Ok maybe, but you still need the "skill" to build this together 🙂 How was or better said is the kit after all? Still looking for a Zero and dont know which I should get.

I've been taking Gabapentin and Oxycodone for decades...whatever you do, avoid surgery until it's the only option...I've had nine spinal surgeries so I can give you this advice! 🙂

I find that building models 24/7 will keep your mind off the pain...

Soeren: It's a cracking little kit that I can recomend. But the one to get is the Tamiya one. They offer not only the Type 21 but 22, 32 n' 52 as well and only need the addition of some seatbelts. This kit is more expensive for me to build than a Tammy kit considerin' all the extras I've put into it. But the base kit is still a good kit for the small amount of money it costs. It all depends on what you feel is needed for your build.

Bill: Thanks mate, I do plan to avoid the butchers as far as I can. As it is now I've got problems sleeping due to the withdrawal of the Tramadol but I got a prescription on Propavan today and also a half time sick leave for three n' a half weeks. Could need that I think.
