I dunno if I got it right or not, but I have to tell you for a moment while I was trying to guess what your words mean I felt myself was a genius.
Still like your F-117, to have a night hawk model was one of my childhood dreams.

Markus AntoniusWie ich finde, hast du die im original sehr komplex erscheinende Oberfläche der F-117 sehr gut für den Maßstab am Modell umgesetzt! Ich werde dies auf jedenfall für mein geplantes zukünftiges F-117-Projekt als Gradmesser hernehmen.

Harald BesoldHi Chan, I haven't had much time to do model building or upload photos in the past week. So I took your comment as an opportunity to upload the photos of the finished model. Sometimes you need a push to take action. I also looked at the photos you posted and I must also say that your models are built beautifully. Especially since you haven't been building models for that long - just like me. I have been building models for about 3 years and I am therefore very happy about your positive comment.

Richard ChealsNice build, Harald! Looks good sitting on the tarmac in the later pics. Is it my vision, or does this kit have the smaller tailplanes of the first 5 FSD aircraft? This is not a criticism, but I do recall many of the earlier F-117 kits were (of course) based on those early photos of this groundbreaking a/c.

Markus Antonius@Richard: With no other aircraft is the appearance so dependent on the focal length when photographed than the F-117... That is why it looks so different in all the publications, especially when photographed as a Model kit. The Hase 1/72 kit is spot on with available Blueprints.

Harald Besold@Richard: Hi Richard, you raise an interesting point and you obviously know this aircraft very well. I believe that the Hasegawa kit has the newer, longer tail fins. From what I could gather, the short tail fins were rhombus-shaped throughout. The newer, slightly longer edges have two additional edges, which can also be found on the model. However, towards the top of the tail fin, these edges taper so much that the top edge of the fin appears like the old, shorter rhombus-shaped shape. In the top view and also when looking closely at the model, this can hardly be seen. These edges can only be seen with the appropriate incidence of light in the side view diagonally from the front.

Richard Cheals@Harald, Markus: Thanks for those comments, guys, I'm just commencing a build of the Dragon 1/144 kit (which proudly claims "all new tooling") and I can see the tail fins are shaped as for the FSD aircraft - which is good for me as I want to paint it as the camo "ship one" of the first flight. I have a copy of "Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk" by Robert F Dorr & this includes 1/72 scale 3-views of the FSD & later a/c. According to these, the FSD fins are 33mm long at the base x 51.5mm at the leading edge while the production fins are 38mm at the base x 60.5mm at the leading edge. The Dragon 1/144 fins are 17mm at the base x 30mm leading edge, so will need some trimming in length. Regarding the cross-section of the fins on the later, production a/c, this publication refers to them as "polygonal".
