Not in the database yet. Tuna version and salmon version, one piece per kit, delivered in a mock-up sushi box. 366 parts: 364 grains of rice and 2 parts for the tuna/salmon. Manufacturer: Syuto Inc. Build time is 40 mins to 1 hour, according to Syuto. There are no build instructions, it is a freestyle model ? For more information: syuto.jp/archives/1728

Are those rice grains?!?

Tom
Treehugger - yes, not numbered, thankfully 🙂 I think they are coated in adhesive, just wet them and (somehow) combine them.

It's reported on TV news in Japan few months ago. There is even a model kit of Gyoza (Japanese dumplings) in Japan. (^o^)

Boy if we have time to build food models, we should all be back outside hunting for it. Crazy.

Thank you Akira! 👍 The gyoza look good! I got the sushi kits from Hobby Link Japan (photos are mine, I'm just not confident to start the kit yet 😄 ) Great info, thank you for your help.

I am not surprised at this. When I was in Japan oh way back in the late '70's, many of the restaurants/food courts etc. had a display window that showed all the different dishes/offerings they had. They were all models. They looked very real and for awhile there I thought when they opened they cooked them up to be displayed and maybe later in the day replaced them. Turned out not real. Not sure the material they used but some rubber/latex thing.

That's an unusual kit. I wonder if there are Takoyaki and Ebi Fry kits as well...
Would love to eat... no, build those. 😄

We still see those display model dishes in the windows of Japanese restaurants here in Thailand. That's my second-favourite part, after the real food 😄 Yeah, takoyaki are another favourite, WG 👍

If in Japan, there are activities for foreign tourists to experience making food samples.
Of course including takoyaki or ebi fly. (^o^)
