The ammount of highlights will be toned down by later weathering.

For being my first handpainted russian markings they came out ok... yet I´m not completely satisfied, but it will do 🙂

Initial weathering was applied using oils to enhance contrasts

the fenders recieved some brown oil-dots which I then blended using stippling motions

Album image #17
Before mounting the wheels I used the specklng technique and two different mud effects to give at least the illusion of textured dirt.

Album image #18
Around the turret ring I specificially painted some paint-spills to further enhance the illusion of the markings being painted in the field

Then I used a dark pinwash to give some more depth to the model. At this point, the cast turret sides really start to stand out.

Well well... now we need some scratches to make it a "real" T-34 🙂

Album image #30
Finished some scratches using a two stage chipping method and a very fine brush.

Now we need some nice rust on the exhaust as well as some dust, dirt and grease on the fenders an engine deck.

I´m planning to attach only two of the three fuel drums and to make the vehicle more unique with some baggage and a very Russian log on the right side 😉

Album image #36
I put some rainmarks as well as some mud over the lower parts of the vehicle

Album image #38
I the end I decided to only add one fuel drum, but there will be other accessories

Tracks are nearly finished now. Just some light polished steel parts remain to be added

Album image #41
The rear deck will recieve some spills of oil/fuel. There will be leaks on the fenders where the fuel drums formerly sat.

Album image #42
I used Millipuut to create a bag that will be fitted to the side of the tank. Additionally, I found a spare unditching log and painted it up to take the place of the two fuel drums on the right side

That's a great looking build, and useful photo album. I havent got a t 34 to build yet but it's got to be on my list for the future.

Thank you 🙂 The T-34 is definetly a subject for more than just one build. At the moment I´m actually thinking about building another one, but a T-34/76 with the UZTM turret...

Sweety sweety, think these techniques could be useful on some of my soviet tanks too. (P.S. Do build another one!)

Album info

See the projects description for some thoughts of mine on this one 🙂

Btw, some might find that there is a real vehicle I used as a loose inspiration for the inscriptions, however I made mine way more gnarly and field-apllied-ish... if you can call it that way.
