Thank you. This is a pretty fun simple build OOB. That exhaust Jag used is one of the more interesting set ups i've ever seen on a race car. I wish my camera picked up their color better

There was a reason for that set up design bossy...
For the life of me I can't remember what it was!!! 😮

So she'd growl like the big cat she is.

More tick over than revving (purring), but bare with it, revs (growls) at the end...

Here's a site with some great detail shots for reference. 🙂 👍

I stumbled upon that site while looking for refs to map the radiator hoses, but in case i hadn't, thanks, that is very helpful. Can't quite tell if the 2 hoses from the right tuck in behind the engine and connect to the tank on the upper right?

Found that Studio 27 did the heat shields on their PE set......my OOB kit has spiraled away from being OOB....how unusual.

If it's any consolation bossy so do all mine. 🤔 😠

How unusual

But to be fair, on this occassion, those heat shields should of been included in the kit, they are integral to car and the overall appearance of the car. Looks quite different without them...

By the way, as regards those radiator hoses, I found this, a guy on another forum posted this picture of the pipes you speak of and shows where they go... Judging by the reference the builder made before building this car, I trust his insight, plus it makes sense. Hope it helps.

Indeed. That is helpful, thanks. I had hoped HobbySearch would have Hiros instructions copied but they didn't unfortunately. And it turns out the hose joints i have are 1/12s so I've had to order some smaller ones.....love waiting for parts.

These near 30 year old decals are proving somewhat problematic in that the technology wasn't very good back then....got white borders on some of the purple decals....

I always give old decal sheets like this a coating of clear. It stops them breaking up when using them or disintergrating when soaking in water!!! Also Photo-Copy them before using, handy, as someone can print them up for you incase of accidents... I do know a couple of people, should you need!!!
Good luck bossy. 🙂

I actually wound up with three decal sheets. Amazingly none of them cracked but at the same time they were a bitch to cut along seems. The Cut on the left side that goes over the intakes went on so badly that I took it off then cut the next CUT into 4 sections (which I then coated with decal film). This entire kit has turned into a learning kit, I have another one on the way.

Ha!!! it's a pigs ear when something like that happens...
I've had a couple of similar occurences, that I've had to change to a learning exercise, luckily it has not happened to me with an MFH kit... touch wood. 🤔

Thankfully, I inherited this kit, so it's not so bad having it turn into a learner. The next one, not as free.

The big learn is that the purple decals and TS lavender are 2 different shades. But I tried putting the lavender over a coat of TS55 dark blue and it's much closer to the decal shade. I would love to paint the engine cover but cutting the purple out of the decals and having them survive probably wouldn't go well.

I'm sure Zero do the Jaguar Purple...
I'll have a look, and get back to you!!! 🤔 🤔 🤔

I have had NO luck with any Zeros I've tried, but thanks. Hopefully i can get their Skoda green to work when i get to it....fingers crossed.

Nope, had to get mine via Spotmodel.

Ok right, because I was going to suggest Halfords Automotive rattle cans, if you were having, eerrrmmmm!!! issues, shall we say??? 🤔 with Zero...
But where you are must have Automotive rattle cans, you could try, just a case of colour matching the paint... Just a thought. 🤔
I use Spotmodel too, excellent company...

Actually, the lavender over dark blue is damn near spot on. I've always found it funny that Tamiya can't match their own stuff. I did look for Skoda green in a can, if that's what you were referring to. It was so long ago I can't recall what I did or didn't find. May have to try again. Do you put your Zero over TS 26? I never bought a base white if theirs.

Like you, I too have err! had issues with Zero in the past. With me it's when I spray it over another makers product, or under another makers product. So if I'm using Zero I'll only use it with other Zero products. Also, these days some Tamiya TS paints show signs of aggression as well, especially TS clear! TS clear has also demolished a set decals for me... So no, I do not and have not put Zero over TS 26. But I have used Halfords Pure white, with no problems.

Youtube Video Great video of the Jags in Le Mans 1988. See if you can see where Tamiya screwed up their markings. At about the 8:49 mark.
