FINALLY!! after pre-ordering and paying for it in 2016, and watching it change due dates or disappearing for the new release lists altogether, I finally have it....... Now of course it will sit in the stash for 3 more years!! So thanks to everyone at MRS Hobbies (my local shop) for all they do and for calling me as soon as it came in..

Always nice to be happy about a desired kit! But dont let us wait too long till you build it!😢

Cancel it if you can...
Sorry but you dont hear anything good about this kit - best example:
The instructions tells you to remove flash or file off around 0,5mm of large areas.

And sure we are all scale modellers etc., but we are still talking about a 2019 NEW TOOL kit and this from a huge manufacturer and no short run producer

A new tool? Wow! I thought its a Trumpeter rebox...

No it's a Revell new tool with sadly also some shape issues etc.
Revell is losing more and more ground to the others in the industry (like ICM, Eduard and Co) in my opinion

Just had a apeek. Well the joints from canopy to spine does not look good... Oh Revell, what have you done? Ok, pizza box looks way better than Trumpeters, there is light and shadow.

There is indeed - sadly.

@Roland

Everyone has to decide that for themselves, but I do not spend any money on such a sloppy development

I have to agree with Sören. I have seen the assembled prototype on several occasions and it has serious shape issues. Not even talking about the engineering which seems to be a total nightmare.

I just wanted a 1:32 Super Hornet without having to pay what the Trumpeter costs........

I started this kit right away, still work in process, but to be honest, I wasn't expecting this much sanding and filling, not for a brand new tooling (2016-7?), anyway, I still have to finish this in order to provide an informed opinion...

I have a Revell A350 kit built which is fairly "new" yet the clear part of the canopy is visibly sunk in compared to the hull, I was just baffled. Not flush at all. Not an area you want to start sanding down, certainly not when working with a big clear part attached.

I've been wondering if I should get an F-18 kit in 1:48 scale. I think I might get one of the Kinetic kits if I see one at a nice price sometime. I am getting warmed up on the idea of building a 1:32 aircraft though. 🙂 For purpose of filling an entire shelf in my Detolf cabinet.

Kinetic kits are a pain in the ass regarding building! Go for the Hasegawa kit

@Roland Revolvermann - this has nothing to do with rivet counting... And the Revell does not have any advantages except the nice looking surface detail. But each to their own!

That's got nothing to do with opinion but with research and quite a lot of facts... the Trumpeter is more accurate and easier to assemble, so Revell's only advantage is the price. Check out the build reports of the Revell kit, a total nightmare to assemble. Why wasting your time assembling one of the worst kits in terms on engineering to end up with a very inaccurate model at the end? But then, it's neither my time nor my money... 😄

Of course it makes sense - I have had it my hands several times, I have seen it built up and several build reports clearly show the issues this kit has.

Lol, so much butthurt...

Indeed 😄

And I love that kind of people who are comparing new tool kits from this year, with kits from 2010!
The Trumpeter Hornet is almost ten years old, which is a lot when you see how this hobby has evolved over the last few years!!!
And then comes Revell in 2019 with a kit around the corner, where there instruction tells you to remove flesh... Please what? And that has nothing to do with rivetcounting!
If Special Hobby tells you that, sure ok they are a smaller company and are offering more shurt run stuff (if something like that still exists to day) and then you have big companies like Revell, where I expect something better in the end!

By the way, Revell has repeatedly postponed the Hornet to revise the mistakes!!

Well, that escalated quickly......

I mean that really got out of hand fast!.....

Let's save some for other threads. 🙂 Good luck with your F-18 build. Such large model should be such a nice display piece.

Guys, a question for those who have assembled this kit ... this super hornet at 1.32 how is the mold) I mean the lace, fit well or should we have putty ready?
21 August 2019, 13:24
J Romo
I had to do some sanding and filling on the vertical stabilizers to fit the body, filling and sanding on the intake areas... I wasn't expecting this for a brand new mold, but it was fun to build 😄

yes shockingly bad for new mold kit. ive been stuck for over a year now cause the cockpit is too wide for the canopy.
