Bell P-39K Airacobra with the S/N 24-275

This Airacobra was assigned to the 12th FS based on the Easter Islands during the Fall of 1942. It was transfered to Henderson Airfield on Guadalcanal in December '42 as part of the 12th FS and later the 70th FS.

It had it´s tail rudder replaced with a spare part from another aircraft, hence the different S/N.

According to Eduard's description, it was flown by Lt. Darrell Cosart and Maj. Louis Kittel among others.

Sadly i can´t find much more information on the plane or it´s pilots. Short Stroke has 3 kill markings, however the mentioned pilots did not score them according to a website on the 70th FS. If anyone has more information on the mentioned pilots or the plane... feel free to share it with me. 🙂

Does anyone have an idea how much weight has to be put in the nose of this kit? The instruction sheet does not specify and all help is really appreciated! 🙂

Added 10g total weight to the nose, 8g above the front wheel bay and 2g in the front nose. Eduard provided 12g weights to earlier types of this kit,. Since they were placed over the front wheel bay with most of the weight towards the cockpit, 10g balance the fuselage out, if you put some of the weight in the front nose.
