Album info

This M4 Sherman composite hull, nicknamed "Battlin Basic," participated in the Battle of Manila (February 3 - March 3, 1945)

The tank was part of Company B of the 44th Tank Battalion, 12th Armored Division. Together with the 1st Cavalry Division, they were part of the 'Flying Column' whose mission was to liberate the Santo Tomas Internment Camp (STIC) and key government buildings. During the liberation of STIC, Battlin Basic led the forces as the first tank through the gates.
