Carsten I think it may be good to tick that box which makes your last image being shown up front... (Under - Albums: Edit). It will be much easier to see the latest status & update first and have a quick look at this very neatly built & finished Mirage 🙂 I think the red intake/bare metal finish is one of the best for these delta-winged arrows and you handled it really well.

Slavo, thanks so much. I am new to Scalemates and there are a lot of tricks to be learned 🙂 Now it should work properly.
I made the mistake and used matt varnish, that makes it a bit dull :/

A fine outcome there Carsten. The Mirage is one of those planes you can build multiple times and never get tired of. Seeing yours makes me want to start another!

Thanks Nathan 🙂 I learned a lot during this build. Before my 15 year break I built 1/35 tanks and the techniques are quite different. But I fully agree, I love the Mirages - I have a few more in my stash 🙂

Dull, Carsten? To me she looks very nice on the pictures. I can't remember the Mirage III (at least Swiss ones) being shiny as they wore the aluminum gown. Well done for a warm up after 15 years 😄

Thanks Thomas 🙂 I wanted a "mottled" look, but in aftermath she could be at least a little shinier😉
But overall I am quite happy - first plane I painted by airbrush, masking tape, pre-shading, panel lines.
On my current project I started adding rivet lines. Each time something new 🙂

Starting with a multi-shade natural metal finish as a warm-up after 15 years is a sign of healthy ambition 👍 If you really want to add some shine without too much fuss as an after-thought, maybe taking a polishing compound, i.e. some of the Tamyia stuff for cars or canopies and working small doses of it in with a fine micro cloth could help... try on a small/hidden surface first 🙂

That is a great Idea, I'll try it 🙂
Yes ambition *g* this was indeed just intended as a warm up for the "important" kits. The Eduard Mirage is cheap and I thought I'd try as much as possible, as the loss wouldn't be so big, if anything went wrong😉

Whiteladder the next project is already under construction. I must say I did not enjoy this kit, as the fit was very bad. I am curious what you will thunk about the fit and mold quality.

Too bad Carsten, that you did not enjoy the kit. I am currently building the Mirage from Kinetics, compared to this kit, the Eduard is prime class. The only points I had to moan about the Eduard was the misalignment of the moulds and that I think she stands too high. The surface finish of the Eduard is miles ahead, on the Kinetics you don't even think of applying bare metal livery ...

Looks very nice Carston 🙂 : I've never done any metal finishes and this looks very very smart - and I too benefitted from Slavo's tip about posting the latest image. 😉

Thomas - my main problem with the kit was the horrible fit and unthoughtful engineering. The fuselage and wingassembly don't match at all under the belly, resulting jn massive filling and sanding. The positionlights were way too big and had to be sanded down to almost half their size, or the landing light (?) under the nose did not match the fuselage at all (ok, I used Microclear there 🙂
I have the Kinetic Mirage IIIE and Dagger in my stash. I can't say anything about their fit, but on the sprues the parts do look good. (I hope).
