Me, too! I'll coat them in Future before using them, which has generally worked. Otherwise, it'll be back to Peter at Hawkeye Models for one of his sets.

Very nice project! Wondering if you have come across any references that would indicate the color of the slats' interior? I have seen photos of Dutch machines with red slats, black on a French machine, and light grey on a US example. All of these we museum pieces. Cheers 👍

You mean the flaps? flic.kr/p/2nJxd88, flic.kr/p/2nJxf2o and flic.kr/p/2nJEi7W were taken by me a month or so ago at HARS of our unrestored SP-2H A89-281. The wells are white and the topsides of the flaps are gull grey, as per the upper surfaces of the wings. The RAAF aircraft may have been different than the machine you're looking for, though.

Thanks for the link Rob, much appreciated (yes, I meant flaps, not slats. Damn aging brain…). I am contemplating a US Navy build, but several imagines I was able to see indicate that the flaps' interior was light, and probably white. Thanks again 👍

No worries - happy to help! The white is very dirty and I initially thought they were an aluminium colour but they're definitely white. Oddly, the nose wheel well is white, too, as are all the gear doors but the main gear wells and undercarriage components are aluminium. Weird.

So, @wilky - 'I'm really interested to see if the decals are still good' - they are!! I coated them with Future before use and they work really well. Unfortunately, the white is a little too transparent and you can see the grey/white transition, so I had to use a couple of Roodecal roundels for the fuselage markings but the red roos went on all positions. Lots of decalling to do and the ink in all but one of the home-made flap markings ran, so I need to make more.

Okay, so not all of the PD Decals worked well. The smaller numbers came apart after I started fiddling with their positions, so I had to use some of the Ventura RAAF numbers out of my stash. Mostly, though, they're okay if you don't play with them too much.

Finished. Thanks to Pete from Hawkeye Decals for bailing me out with a few decals that cracked or broke during the decalling process. Not entirely happy with the result but at least it's done!

Thanks all. It's beating me up a bit as I can see all the flaws but everyone else seems to like it. It looks okay in the cabinet.
